The Paul Naschy stuff from Spain is essential if you consider yourself a Werewolf movie fan.

How can anyone dismiss the majesty of teen wolf? It lead to a spate of van surfing round our way in the eighties. :)

I'll be there too. Speaking of Universal Horror remakes, The Creature From The Black Lagoon is being remade. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0485799/

Hammer Films' The Curse Of The Werewolf with Oliver Reed is another good one.

Oliver Reed , what a great actor.

And Hazel remember Benicio has experience as a Wolfman. He played the dog faced boy in " Big Top Pee Wee "

Wasn't there supposed to be a sequel to Dog Soldiers?

Couldn't find anything on IMDb about it but the way the movie ended there's definitely room for a sequel.

rockabilly
10-18-2009, 11:07 PM
Or even a prequel. Cursed would have been good if the studio had stopped changing the script. Anybody see Fullmoon High or My Moms a Werewolf w/ John Saxon?

Dog Soldiers 2: Dead Meat was at one time to be the sequel, but it doesn't look like it is happening anymore.

While not a movie , does anybody remember a t.v. show called "Werewolf" ? It had Chuck Connors as an evil werewolf and a young man tracking him down to end the wolfs bloodline and free himself from the curse. Kinda like the Incredible Hulk ... but w/ werewolves.

If it's this there is a DVD box set coming out. No exact date has been given for the release.

i remember this TV series, jumped out to very good ratings the first
few weeks but faded down the stretch and the plug was pulled.
Early it capitalized off the hit movie the Howling and most were
tantalized by a " werewolf " TV series. There were always
series that cater to vampires ( see Dark Shadows, Night Stalker) but
not a werewolf series.

Even to this day, with so many various
vamp series in production (ala true blood, vampire diaries, etc.)
but never werewolve series, it's always been like that.

The last tv shows that had werewolves that i remember were Buffy and Angel.
I think that doing Vampire shows is easier since most of the effects are cosmetic ... contacts , fangs and sometimes facial prosthetics. But w/ a werewolf you need a transformation scene , at least initialy then lots of make-up effects and enhanced w/ cgi (for blending)
Maybe they will introduce werewolves in that Vampire Diaries show ,to copy the Twilight sequel.

Be something similar to horror movie " the Boneyard " but i call them
more a mutation than the were- effect.

I noticed that nobody metioned Van Helising.

my first thought of Van Helsing is his battle vs Dracula, the Lord of Vampires. Though it does very heavily involve werewolves.
i liked the CGI effect of the werewolves in this one. Fast, brutally savage
and ferious !

Boy, i sure badly wanted a sequel to this Van Helsing.

The Howling 2 was ... bizzare to say the least. Sybill Danning was a good choice to play the queen of the werewolves but after that the franchise lost it's way. It even went down the path of other films " lets add a fight w/ a vampire " lame.
They should reboot The Howling series and stick closer to the books.

I really liked big bad wolf because it wasn't your average werewolf film and your average wolf because he likes to make jokes and taunt people i say it seems like a horror comedy the wolf was so frelling funny. For a low budget this was a good, funny movie.SPOILERS BELOW

The funniest lines and scenes from the movie,

"Wolf:three little pigs let me in and the girl says go f**k yourself"

When the boyfreind arrives and find the wolf raping his stuckup girlfreind(rape isn't funny but it is when its by a smartass, wisecracking werewolf) and jock guy says "she was a virgin!" and the wolf replies by saying "not anymoooooorrreee" then the wolf rips his balls off and throws them in the fireplace.

When the wolf kicked off the one guys head and said GOAL!!!!!!!!!

Sam says, "Don't be an idiot!"
of course, he opens the door. the werewolf is standing there and says, "You idiot!"
