Congressman Alan Grayson (D, Fla) revealed the Republican health care plan - "Don't get sick. If you do, die quickly".

The Repugs and the REICHwing nutjobs on Fixed News and CONservative radio howled with phony indignation, demanding an apology and threatening official censure. Of course, they had no problem with Repub Congressmen saying the Dem plan told seniors to "drop dead" or lies about 'death panels'. Grayson's apology was a devastating left hook to follow the thundering overhand right of his original statement.

On CNN, Rep. Grayson called his Repug opponents knuckle-dragging Neanderthals.

Grayson recently gleefully explained to Republicans that the bill to defund ACORN would also defund other contractors who defrauded the govt, including KBR and Halliburton.

It's fun to see a Dem fight back for a change. Conservatives have been hogging all the red meat lately while Dems have been living on tofu. A tip o' the hat to Alan Grayson, carnivore.

Good for Alan Grayson! Finally a Dem shows some backbone and points out that the Republicans offer no solutions on healthcare.

I especially liked this from his follow up "apology to Republicans":

"lets remember that we should care about people even after they are born"

I'm a bit suspicious of his 44,000 die because of no health insurance figure. How can you quantify this? Does this mean if you have health care you live forever?

His American holocaust line was over the top. Nazi allusions are said to be too far when used against President Obama, and I agree. Let's have a level playing field. Grayson will have his 15 minutes of fame.

While Grayson's speech was amusing & an accurate depiction of too many attitudes toward this topic, I'm sick & tired of the hyperbole all around. Nobody can get anything accomplished as long as the discussion is dominated by shrieking lies.

@bsting - the figure Rep. Grayson cited came from a Harvard study, as he stated, linked here: http://pnhp.org/excessdeaths/health-insurance-and-mortality-in-US-adults.pdf

'Lack of health insurance is associated with
as many as 44789 deaths per year in the
United States, more than those caused by
kidney disease'

He was using holocaust with a small 'h', as in 'any mass slaughter or reckless destruction of life'. No Nazi allusion. I'd say the word was poorly chosen because it allows his opponents to accuse him of the Nazi reference (as you did) to draw attention away from the rest of what he said.

@hippifried - if everyone was as calm and rational as you are, hyperbole would be unnecessary. The Dem base needs to stay riled up and active and a little red meat helps to accomplish that. As Fox Noise and the teabaggers have demonstrated over and over, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. In a perfect world, your approach would be preferable. Alas...

I'd hardly call Grayson's statements shrieking lies. The Health Insurance industry, CONservatives, Repubs and too many Dems have shown their allegiance is to profits and not people.

@techi - Yep, the snide reference to the repubs phony abortion crusade was a gem.

Grayson stays on offense and has a little fun at the expense of Rethugnicans Broun and Sensenbrenner: "Will the gentleman yield?" "No." Gotta love this guy.

Here he goes on the Ed Schultz show and takes a poke at FOX; also a great shot at Repubs: "The party of no is rapidly becoming the party of nobody."

Actually.... there's a Youtube vid of him grilling Bernanke. He asks Helicopter Ben "where'd the money go".....

Bens reply " I don't know"

Grayson laughs in his face.

I'm not stupid enough to believe there's a dimes worth of difference between Pubs and Dems....but for one split second there...this guy provided some much needed comic relief.
