They made me stop once i started asking for volunteers. I had a specific execution in mind too. There was a member of the 2nd estate, iirc, who had a most unusual execution by guillotine.

As I remember reading about it in 5th grade, upon trying to kill him they found that he was so big that his neck literally stopped the blade from sheering all the way through in one clean drop... forcing the executioners to get onto the blade and jump on it to slowly hack threw the mounds of fat that was delaying the victim's death.

This was a good show for the french people, who had been disappointed in how quickly the guillotine killed people. Public executions used to be family entertainment and whole cities would stop to bring their families to them... it would be better than going to the fair. It was probably for this reason that the reign of terror got out of control... since the executions were so much faster they needed a long line of victims in order to keep the entertainment flowing.
