Michael Moore doesn't look much better, neither did Ted Kennedy.

Tuesday night, Rep. Alan Grayson of Florida, a Democrat representing the state's 8th district, which includes the cities of Orlando, Eustis and Ocala, took to the floor of the House of Representatives armed with an easel and three posters to deliver his interpretation of the Republican's health care reform plan. Printed on the three posters were the individual points of the "very simple" Republican plan, according to Rep. Alan Grayson. They were:

1. Don't Get Sick 2. And If You Do Get Sick ... 3. Die Quickly

Needless to say, Rep. Grayson's biting floor speech didn't go over well with the Republicans in the House, reminding some political observers of Rep. Joe Wilson's outburst during President Obama's recent address to Congress. Longtime Republican Congressman Jimmy Duncan of Tennessee called the outburst by the freshman representative "the most mean-spirited partisan statement that I've ever heard made on this floor," adding that he personally didn't "appreciate it." Others demanded an apology from Rep. Grayson, who has so far refused to apologize, unlike Wilson, who issued an apology soon after interrupting the president's speech. However, unlike Joe Wilson, who serves a heavily conservative district in South Carolina, Rep. Grayson's actions may not sit well with constituents in a district that, despite swinging toward Obama in 2008, voted overwhelmingly for George W. Bush in the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections.

According to the bio on his website, Rep. Grayson grew up in the tenements of the Bronx and put himself through Harvard working as a night watchman and a janitor, graduating at the top of his class as a Phi Beta Kappa honoree. After finishing law school and embarking on a legal career, Grayson started a telecom/Internet business, IDT Corp, that grew into a $2-billion a year, Fortune 1000 public corporation. Rep. Grayson's familiarity with the online world led Marin Cogan of The New Republic to label him "the blogosphere's man in Congress," and predicted that he'd be "the first member to bring the blogosphere's in-your-face style to Capitol Hill." Accordingly, he'd already begun to establish himself as a politician who doesn't hold back with his thoughts and opinions, having recently called conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh a "has-been hypocrite loser."

As one would easily expect, in response to Rep. Grayson's remarks the other night, the National Republican Congressional Committee has already posted an anti-Grayson spot on YouTube titled, "I'm Not Prepared to Say That." And Wednesday night, Rep. Grayson, along with a few other congressional Democrats, is scheduled to attend the premiere of controversial filmmaker Michael Moore's latest production, "Capitalism," which will surely enhance his standing as a new bogeyman for Republicans.

We were unable to learn if Rep. Grayson's controversial statements led to a Joe Wilson-esque spike in political contributions, as Yahoo! News' attempts to reach either the congressman or his spokesperson for comment were unsuccessful, just as a staffer in Washington office suggested they might be when he said, "They're both going to be extremely difficult to reach today."
