It just came out on DVD Tuesday. I watched it for the first time and I thought this is a very good movie. It is ranked 110 of IMDB (http://www.imdb.com/chart/top).

it was the best Batman movie ever created
and it ranks up with the Spiderman movies as possibly the best comic to movie script ever written

I whole heartedly agree. I was just on my way out to go buy the deluxe version right now as a matter of fact . Spiderman is my favorite superhero. But Batman Begins is my favorite superhero movie of all time.

Bought the Movie on Tues. By far the best Batman movie! Alot "darker" than the rest.

Sorry to disagree but Batman Returns is the best.

I agree with everyone so far. People often ask me why I read what critics have to say about any movie I might be interested at the time, and I reply that it simply saves the time of checking out a dud. I never saw any of the previous three, but given what I had read, not one sounded worth viewing. The critics really piqued my curiousity with this one, so I had to see this one. I was not disappointed. This was a great movie, and I can't wait for the sequel. Too bad they dumbed down The Fantastic Four. There was potential there! :)

Harry's Boy,
The others were star laden, special effect "cartoons" on 'roids.

Saw it months ago in theatre and it is the best Batman movie. Beats other Batman movie and crappy sequels.

Oh and to set the record straight for some that might be confused...
This is not a sequel nor a prequel. It has absolutely no connections with the previous Batman Anthology. A sequel to "Batman Begins" is already in the works. And for those who have seen the ending to "BB", you already know who the next villian is, and how kick ass it will be.

Untitled Batman Begins Sequel (2008) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0468569/)
David Goyer wrote Batman Begins and will write the sequel to Batman Begins. He is also writing The Flash and Ghost Rider both expected to release in 2006.

I loved Nicholson's Joker in the first Batman movie, but otherwise I have to agree this is the best thus far. Still, it had it bumps: excessive violence in places, too slow pacing in others. But Ra's Al Ghul was excellent, and certainly the best realization of the character yet.
Best superhero movie adaptions in my opinion have been the first two Superman movies and X2. Hellboy was excellent. FF had a different set of weaknesses compared to Batman Begins, but I still liked it. The first Spidey didn't impress me at all. The second had me until they extinguish a runaway fission reaction by dunking it in the Hudson River (sorry, my niece is a physicist--can't help but laugh at that gaff). But that aside, I did like it.
The first X-men was ok, but X2 was much better. I'm probably forgetting others. As for what's coming down the pike: will the Flash be Barry Allen or Wally West? (Certainly not Jay Garrick, though I think Flash is the character who has most successfully been reinterpreted from generation to generation, from the Golden Age Jay to the Silver Age Barry to today's Wally.) Iron Man has real potential. Deathlok, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Ghost Rider all hold zero interest for me (though if they are well handled, I'll be receptive). X3 must be the Phoenix saga, they certainly set that up in X2.
I wonder if CGI is yet up to Green Lantern? Done poorly it would be a joke, but I'd like to see GL done right.

I've only read brief descriptions about the upcoming movie--I don't want to know too much in advance!
Though I think it's interesting that Famke Jansen playing Phoenix also offered the most extensive role as a TS on tv on Nip / Tuck! Interesting resume the woman has.

X2 was awesome as well as the two Spiderman movies. I also loved Blade II. Blade I was good, but Blade Trinity was disappointing, though I liked the way Jessica Biel in the movie. The original Batman was also good as well as the Superman movies. I am waiting for Wonder Woman. For some reason, I can see Allanah Starr in that role.
i agree ...it was better, since it was more on the legends of the dark knight series.....i also loved the first one though....jack nicholson's performance was legendary....i am also looking forward to the next spiderman , since a little bird told me that one of the enemies in the movie is going to be venom ( my fav villian in the comic series).

The first Batman movie had two big pluses: Jack and casting for Bruce Wayne rather than for Batman (Keaton is no Batman, but he made a believable Wayne). As far as being on point with the comics, both do, but in different ways, responding to different eras. I see the first Batman as hewing close to the original Bob Kane / Bill Finger conception of Batman, dark but camp (wonderfully expressed in that outrageous scene where the Batman unloads every weapon in the Batplane against the Joker without getting a scratch on him, then the Joker brings the Batplane down with a ridiculous five-foot-long pistol--classic! I was rolling in the aisles!).
Yes, Batman Begins instead cuts to the marvelous reinvention of Batman by Frank Miller (with a nod to Neal Adams and Denny O'Neill first shaking loose the camp Batman of the 60s), and is much richer as a character study.
Oh, that reminds me: Sin City is one of the best comix adaptations ever!
i met denny oniell when i was a young lad....got a bunch of his stuff signed , batman movie comic, batman dark knight returns , and even shadow #1 from the 70s.

Neat! I still have that Shadow #1 around somewhere. He was one of the best writers in comix.

Best Batman movie yet. The movie and a huge cast of great actors and two of them which are my all time favs, Bale and Murphy. Just tose two being in the movie made me want to see it. The only bad thing about the movie is that Scarecrow didn't have much screen time and got screwed over at the end. That made me mad cuz Scarecrow is my favorite Bman enemy. Besides that, the movie was well made and glad that Bale will be in 2 more Bman movies.

The Phoenix saga requires a heck of a lot more than just a movie. They should just turn it into an HBO series and let Joss Whedon direct it.

Jack Nicholson deserved an Oscar nod for his role as the Joker.......................
As far as upcoming movies go, Ironman better be out of this world; because if they fuck it up I will be heated. I'm sorry folks but Fantastic Four sucked, I will say that I liked Hulk over FF. Ghost Rider will be another Daredevil, because even with the cult following very few of these kids today even know about Ghost Rider comics from Marvel.
I'll also be pissed if they fuck up the Flash, I was pissed when CBS cancelled the tv show due to budget years ago, that shit had potential.
What I would love to see DC do but they will NEVER do is Kingdom Come............anyone that has ever read it understands how incredible that shit would be..........
p.s. THANK YOU DC COMICS for shitting on Nicholas Cage's dreams of being Superman. I'm gonna say this once, Superman needs to be played by Patrick Warburton http://www.filmcritic.com/misc/mepics.nsf/view/warburton/%24File/warburton.jpg
voice of Brock Samson on the Venture Bros. (funniest adult swim cartoon to date)
Voice of Superman on the American Express commercials
ok enough ranting

Have you read the ongoing Astonishing X-Men comic written by Whedon? By far the best treatment of the team in comics since the glory days of Claremont and Byrne 25 years ago.

Thought You might be interested to know, if you already didn't, that they're releasing that on DVD in January.
