i haven't been a fan of madonna (the musical artist and i use artist loosely) since her very early stuff...i'm not a big fan of people who jack other people's styles for profit..yet almost every tranny or gay man ive ever met loves madonna even to levels of extremes (getting tattoos, etc). why?

Madonna is simply adored by TS women and gay men because each and everyone of them see's her as their reincarnation. People tend to IDOLIZE someone who's influenced their lives as awhole.

First ofcourse for her fashion style/self image. Remember how she swept the globe with her "boytoy" trademark..tight leggings, sweats, midrif, fancy scarves on her hair, crucifixes etc. That made a strong fashion statement when she first hit it big. Its how she always keeps her legion of fans worldwide guessing on her constant image reinventions.

Second, was her style in music..she always never fails to amaze people with her upbeat songs which are always a "big club favorites". And how she takes alot of time perfecting her craft with voice lessons for Evita. Where she won Best actress at the golden globe following Nicole Kidman.

Third, is for her guts of being controversial and always in the news. How she learned to manipulate the media to her advantage. Keeping and holding people's interested in almost everything she does.. from her concerts, her provocative videos..burning crosses in "Like a Prayer" which was banned, her introduction of the BDSM lifestyle to the mainstream in "Justify My Love", her scandalous coffee table book "SEX" to name a few.

And overall, Her reign, contribution, influences and presence in the music industry spans 2 decades. And that she is still very much around. I saw her last concert at MSG last year and it was simply breathtakingly spectacular! Her American Life cd not only had a different sound and feel but it also comes with strong political statements againts WAR and OPPRESSION. Songs she wrote and colaborated with brilliant people through the years and her practice of Kabalah clearly showed how she grew and matured as an artist and an ICON. Tho I do agree she should have hired someone for the rap part..maybe Missy or Eminem. LOL.

Who knows? Maybe her new CD which is slated for release this November and was said to have a feel of her earlier music might be better than her last record. :wink:

Her ability to take control of her own career early on and stay at the top of the entertainment industry for some two decades is truly impressive. She is as close to being self-made as is possible in the music industry and is nothing short of a phenomenal business woman. Conversely, though I have enjoyed some of her stuff throughout the years, I think she is a mediocre artist who has never done anything groundbreaking from a purely musical standpoint. Her true talent is marketing herself and her sexuality, which, in turn, markets her music, etc. Now that she is getting long in the tooth, and it is clear that she is not aging as well as say a Sophia Lauren, I question whether or not she will be able to remain at the top of the industry. Still, I would never bet against her.

When i was growing up- I was a HUGE fan of Mandonna. Probably a sign of things to come! But she is probably the once singer I idolized the most in my youth. I was obssesed with her. I wanted to see every magazine, every record, everything! She was like a god to me. I even remember forcing my mom to go see thruth or dare with me because I could not get in because I was under 17. Though I still enjoy her music and I think she as an amazing business woman and extremely intelligent- and a great performer- I am obviously not as fanatical.

My one dreeam when I was younger was to meet her. I finally got to in the early 90s. When I used to live in Miami Beach in the early 90's was the time that club kids and drag queens very very popular- the era of RuPaul, etc. It was very envougue for celibreties to have homes in Miami and to usually have drag queens at their party. Back th en- I was like a club kid/drag queen in a vey experimental phase. But I was a performer and straight out of school I began to work at night clubd almost seven nights a wewk. Madonna had a house in Miami then, and her brother Christopher Ciccone used to hang out alot and he would come to a place then called The Mulberry Street Cafe, that had shows on Monday nights, He befriended a lot of us including the dl who he was close friends with. I guess he set the whole thing up but one day I got a call and was told that they wanted to hire 10 girls to go to the party as entertainment and wanted 4 to perform- and I was one of them. I think the dj had made that decision so I was very excited. I mean here I was at 21 or so going to meet my childhood ideos home to work at her party. It was almost surreal from when the limo came to pick ups up and when we got there and then she came down stairs to say hello. I could not tell you what I was expecting to see when I mett her- almost like I was going to be transformed. But I was rather dissapointed because she was very small in person, looked a bit older than I though- but she was very cool. We had a small talk about her eyebrows and then she said something like give them hell. That was pretty much it- lol. Of course she was there the whole night and she saw the shows, and jumped in the pool at one pint-and at the end she said good bye as we left. I almost left there empty because that is when I realize t hat meeting a famous person- is just that a meeting. I was younge and naive- but I am very glad to have had that experience. It was great to meet one of your idols as a child .

AND she had us sign a confidentially agreement before we left adn got paid lol- well her assistant- not her. But it was lots of fun.

My Dad has that playboy issue and those pics were taken back when she was a struggling artist out in Manhattan. It wasnt a photo shoot for playboy but playboy was publishing earlier pics of her. Gees. LOL. Dont talk if you dont have your facts straight. I didnt like what I saw..but I still like her regardless. With fame, Im sure she doesnt grow 'em armpit hairs like she used to. Heck, maybe she got them all lasered! LOL.

Everyone in any business industry..porn, entertainment etc is guilty of doing. Heck even regular folks gets their images retouched. So I dont see whats the big fuss is about. I really dont.

As for Madonna not being as sexy as Pam Anderson. All I can say is atleast Madonna didnt pay for her big boosoms like Pam did. She was born with it. Im not saying Madonna is better looking physically than Pam. But these two ladies totally got different looks. One is more "Porn" looking hence she started out on playboy (After being discovered on a beer commercial out in Canada) and graced its pages time and time again. Madonna on the otherhand is in the music business not porn business. To even compare Pam with Madonna and what she has achieved is simply preposterous. They both got different achievements out in their own respective fields/departments.

Bottomline, Madonna is a PHENOMENON just like Marilyn Monroe and will go down our history books. Speaking of her..Has anyone here seen the new documentary MTV did on her (Madonna)? I saw it and it was really eerie and touching. Doing her recent concert/tour..performing amidst the rain on a full moon in Ireland etc. Her HUMANITRIAN work, She even went as far as visiting Israel to spread words of peace is commendable.

I agree in part chefmike. Madonna aint no actress but she did justified her role as Evita in said movie which was a musical. And you cant blame a gurl for trying making a movie under her husband helm..afterall, he is a noted director. And as with anything, Its called Nepotism. All of us are guilty of it. People we know or people who knows us tries to get ahead thru connections even if say we lack skills and talent for a job. LOL. Its human nature.
