Not a deadhead, but 'Jack Straw' would be perfect...there's also a live version with Bruce Hornsby that is stellar....and no one's mentioned 'A Horse With No Name' by America yet? I can picture the drive just thinking about those two tunes....

The ultimate late night driving song....especially if you happen to be either drink/drug addled or both...

Last time I went cross country it was all about Moby's album Play and Train's Drops of Jupiter.

Moby's disc was especially powerful at night - invoking a spiritual, supernatural vibe.

Train's disc is just pure Americana - it definitely makes you feel like you're in a movie about a road trip and it's upbeat but moody like the Moby record.

Oh and of course: Bob Seger - Roll Me Away - it evokes that scene from Armageddon where the team gets a night of freedom before the mission. ;)
