Far easier to fill something in, they could just inject fat into a dent (no surgery needed) or put in an implant (minimal surgery) versus grinding away boney tissue (that can get pretty complicated depending on your sinus passages- have you seen the implants they make for extreme ffs cases where they simply cut out part of the skull and patch it with a piece of plastic :shock: ?).

IDK what various surgeons use in terms of material or how they fix the "patch" to the body but Suporn uses titanium plate with screws.

As his site says:

This involves replacing the anterior wall of the frontal sinus with a thin titanium plate and screws. This technique is now applied to about 70% of cases.

Somewhere I once saw pictures of this basic idea being done, but I believe from a different surgeon- they basically cut off a section of your skull and patch it with some kind of shaped implant.

They have to patch it, of course, because all kinds of bad things can happen if you leave the sinuses fully exposed like that.

No, not at all.

Basically they can only take so much off before they grind a hole into the sinus passages.

It all depends on how thick your skull is where they're grinding, and how much they have to take off for it to look right.

Some people need that much removed entirely, just to get their massive brows ground away.
