I would not consider the die hard racist people that I've run across to be "thinkers". They'll say shit like "i hate black people" and they aren't gonna debate the issue. So confronting them seems like a waste of time unless there's an audience that might be less decided on the issue.

The gym I go to has a fair number of black people. I've heard many racist things about white people said in their conversations. When dealing with these angry racist losers, I've usually used the killing them with sarcastic kindness routine. Many of these racists aren't too swift upstairs and don't realize they've been insulted until they are halfway home. Another way I like to bother them is to share a piece of equipment and lift more weight than they do. They usually make a mean face, wipe their nose, walk away, and cry in the corner.

None of them are. Bigotry is the philosophy of ignorance, fear, & general stupidity.

Backstage at the bar where I used to perform there’s a fair number of white girls. I’ve heard many racist things about blacks, Latinos and Muslims said in their conversations. When dealing with these angry racist bimbos, I’ve usually used the killing them with sarcastic kindness routine. Many of these racists aren’t too swift upstairs and don’t realize they’ve been insulted until they are halfway home. Another way I liked to bother them is to out dance them and entice the guys to spend all their money on me instead of them. The girls usually would make a mean face, wipe their noses, walk away, and cry in the corner. I just want to point out that anyone can exhibit racism, but my focus is on racist white bimbos.

Your experience sounds familiar. Racists come in all colors and they're equally annoying.

That's right Dino. Just remember that all you kids out there. Racists come in all colors, and Dino is equally annoyed by all of them. ;)

You're not also? Is some racism OK and others not? Shouldn't everyone be held to the same standard? Do you feel some racial/ethnic groups are incapable of being racist?

It's not just race. Bigotry is prejudice toward people based on who they are instead of what they do. Race just creates a uniform, so you can see who you're supposed to dislike without having to look too hard. Racism is just bigotry for the lazy.

All I can say is I'm glad I'm white (actually beige) so I don't have to deal with this racism stuff.

The BNP (British Nationalist Party) is a funny party. The party is racist but they cannot be openly racist; therefore, they have to be careful with their wording. For example, when they talk about "British people", they are talking about white people. A few months ago, some mailmen refused to pass out their leaflets.

We are all exposed to racism and bigotry regardless of the color of our skin. Some groups get the worst of it but it would be ignorant to say that any of us are immune to it.

When travelling abroad I've run into a lot of anti-American bigotry. Even before George Bush and the Iraq war and even in Ireland and the UK. I'm not talking about minor slights either, I'm talking about stuff like being refused service in restaurants simply because I was an American. I'd go in a fish&chips shop with a variety of coworkers, English, Spanish, French, German ,Dutch etc... all of us pasty white but I was consistently the one that never received food.

Or even at home in the corporate American workplace, race and gender based decision making is rampant. Sure, they hire minorities and even promote them but... not exactly on merit. I remember when they needed a new department head for the development group of the corporation I worked for.... the most qualified person in the department was a woman. Did they promote her? No, they moved a lackluster yes-woman over from the sales department and put her in charge. Sure, our company was celebrating diversity but they were doing it by promoting mindless puppets. Idiotic manuvres like this hurt everyone.

Do you feel some racial/ethnic groups are incapable of being racist?Depends. Is racism an act of overt or political oppression exercised by one or more [of] those groups in power over those who are not ([e.g. by] profiling, redlining etc. ), or is it [a] derogatory verbal exchange between two strippers in the dressing room or two guys in a locker room?

Racists come in all colors and they're equally annoying.
Do you find racism annoying, or do you find it to be a serious obstruction?

Bigotry is a fear based mindset of the insecure. When someone disrupts their comfort zone, their delusions of adequasy get blown out of proportion & they look for reasons to feel superior so they don't have to face their own perceived inferiority.

It's our differences that make us interesting. If everybody was the same, this would be an insufferably dull world & we'd still be peeking out of our caves, if we'd ever bothered to move into them.

I know a Black chap who would wind up the white guys in the block by acting all offended by an innocent comment they made about something not to do with race at all. For example he would ask one of them to do his ironing and if they said no he would start ranting about plantations and slaves, sometimes they would end up doing what he asked them like the women they were.

He would even leave books on Martin luther kind and malcom x about. I got his number very quickly that he was on a wind up and when he pulled it on me ,I just said 'shut up you black bastard ' and carried on polishing my boots. Should have seen the look on his face, he then laughed his head off I started laughing and we became very good mates, . I think it was all these people walking on eggshells in case they offended him and then he encountered someone who was an actual 'racist'.

Thanks ,we are very happy together.By the way coming from one of the most sexist and intolerant members of the board being accused of being racist by yourself is a bit like Stalin criticising Hitler for not valuing human life.

If anyone is obsessed with race it's you.

Did you miss the quotation marks I put around 'racist' ? I'm sorry if you have difficulty reading a couple of small paragraphs .

Or is this just another example of you playing the race card?

*At a truck stop, a woman gives her husband her handbag to hold while she goes to the restroom. The man is beaten to death by homophobes who think he’s gay.
*A black man is picked by two guys in a pick up truck, beaten, stripped of his clothes, tied to the trailer hitch and dragged along a back road and then left to die.
*Police barge into a Texas man’s house with guns drawn. As soon as they realize the man is Caucasian they apologize, never ask for ID and withdraw assuming they’re at the wrong address.

In this country people are daily oppressed based on their gender, sexual orientation and race. The latter is racism. Racism is oppression based on race.

Having to see copies of Malcom X lying around the rec-room or having a friend harangue you about how his ancestors were slaves isn’t oppression. Overhearing some derogatory remarks about white people in the locker room isn’t oppression.

Don’t confuse bigotry with racism. Anybody can be a bigot. It’s much more difficult to be oppressive. Racism is not the act of one person, but the cumulative effect of systematic acts (intentional or not) that trample the human rights of an ethnic population.
