The USPS is reporting losses this year of close to 1 billion a month. It has been strongly suggested by enviromental stalwarts such as Sen Robert Kennedy that hauling paper six days a week needs to be thwarted in order to reduce a major carbon footprint.Last year and this year the USPS offered VERA(voluntary early retirement incentives) to employees who did not quite have the required 30 years service at age 55.A slight penalty is occured when taking this option, but some (myself included) took it.Now with a surplus of 150,000 employees before such measures as plant consolidations and five day delivery, more employees are going to be sent to facilities hundreds of miles away to maintain employment and non veteran managers are being RIF'ed(severanve pay and goodbye).President Obama I am sure would like to help the unions, but her can only do so much for an antiquated business. It will be interesting to see what transfolds.

I think suga means Robert Kennedy JUNIOR. The gov't can maintain postal service if it goes out of the business of killing people. Quite expensive actually.
