The Grasshopper.
They have another shop if you walk the other way from the sex museum, at the Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal.

The Bulldog is also a good choice if you're looking for quality.

I'm currently angling for a 3 month summer time project assignment in the Netherlands. I've lit prayer candles and keep my fingers crossed while I sleep in the hopes of getting the assignment. It sounds like a whole lot of fun. Needless to say, I probably won't return to the States any richer despite the per diem. 8)

for the better shops you must not go in the touristparts...most of the time expensive and bad weet....go too the other cityparts like,oud west,de baarsjes and bos and lommer....always good shit....the only good shops in the touristsectory are....De tweede kamer near spuistraat and De dampkring in de handboogstraat 29.....go there when you are in my city :D

In no particular order;

Rick's, any Rokerij, The Green House, Homegrown Fantasy, The Kashmir Lounge. You will find nowhere better than these lot! Rick's, on Oudezijds Voorburgwal, specialises in the very hard to find Afghani and Indian hashish, may I recommend the 'Nepal Cream' or the 'King Hassan'? For bud I think that 'Homegrown Fantasy on Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal has the best in the city!

I hate 'The Bulldog' as it's always full of pissed-up Brit's! Even though I'm a Brit I prefer the company of the locals, and it helps you pick up some Dutch!

Have a ball wherever you go in the city, but remember to keep an eye on your wallet and never speak to the seller's on the street, just walk on by....

My favorite coffee shop is "Dampkring". You will have no trouble finding it if you ask for the "Oceans 12" coffee shop. There was a scene from the movie shot there. Very cool atmosphere and good smoke.

Going to Amsterdam for the first time on Friday for 5 days and did a ton of research.

The Bulldog, Grasshopper and the big chain coffeeshops are total tourist traps that sell weak smoke for crazy prices.

The best shops I've come to learn are Grey Area, Mellow Yellow, Amnesia, Dampkring, Greenhouse, The Green PLace, Rokerij, Homegrown Fantasy, 420 Cafe de Kuil & Stix.

I totally co-sign Homegrown Fantasy, very chill spot to come down at. I would also strongly recommend Abraxis. I thought it was the biggest, nicest, and coolest. I wasn't impressed with Grasshoper, it was uncomfortable and touristy. Also, there's so many dumb brits in A-dam that the best places are usually the ones they don't go to, i.e. bulldog.

haha not 2 worry, rarely did i see people smoking outdoors when i was there. My lungs feel more irritated from all the smog & cigarette smoke in nyc than they did in amsterdam.

Yeah it is a good museum to check out, but whether you smoke or not, you will need to afterwords. Not exactly an uplifting afternoon. You can always have a spacecake.

Noon is a great coffee shop for weed, don't expect to sit and watch the day go by though as it's tiny, buy your weed and smoke it elsewhere.

My favorite is Sheeba in the RLD...Hill Street Blues is good too, make sure u get a hot chocolate as well, also the trannies are near Hill St Blues
