I must say I'm quite fascinated by the way racism is assumed to be underyling every fucking thing in America. Maybe it is underlying everything, I don't know. I've never visited America, and unless I go across to a "Crossroads" festival I probably never will. But Jesus it definitely is a hot topic!

I watched Donal MacIntyre last night - he was in Washington - and once again, race seemed to be part of every conversation.
