This is a huge chapter of closure in my life and I just wanted to share this feeling with all of you who are reading this.

I have always felt a tug and an empty space in my heart without the approval of my father and I have always wanted to hear him say some of these words to me. Now in this new chapter of my life it seems that all of those huge hills and moutains are like distant lands.

Much love and Please do share your love!

Dear ***** ( my legal name )

Since the last time we spoke, that time you were here at Rosanne's house and I brought you your boxes, I have been trying to get in contact with you. I called you phone about 54 times, sent you 596 emails, etc.
I'm sorry if I wasn't ready for you at that time. It was such a drastic change that I kind of tried to block it unconsciously. I'm sorry. It was a stupid thing to do to someone that you love.
And the next day when you wanted to go out, I made some kind of dumb excuse, I can't remember. The only thing I remeber is that you were crying on the phone. I'm sorry for that too.
Please forgive me for the pain. Can we pick up where we left off?
You look fantastic. I can accept that now.
One thing we have to clear up, though. I never prohibited you from seeing your Grandfather. That was not my decision. His wife had the say on that one. He died without regaining consciouness after 10 days in the ICU. Even before that, he was having deliriums in the hospital. He didin't recognize me or Wlacyra. But he had a very full and productive life.
Alba never told me not to talk to you. Remeber when you stayed at our house? You and her had your differences, but she never tried to put me against you. someone on the outside might have that impression, but trust me, it never happened.
Anyway, I think that those days are long gone and we can put it all behind us. I love you, wether you are E*** or E****. Inside you are still the same person, I hope. No one here wants us to be apart, on the contrary.
Please don't think I'm dissing your Mom. I would never do that. She is entitled to her opinions and beliefs. I don't want her to be a wall between us. She has her new life, and I have mine. We can all be civil and get along, right?
If all this I've told you can compensate for my mistakes with you, please contact me.
I love you,
Dad

Well in my opinion, parents never really hate you. They will always love you. The may hate what you do, but they still love you. But it must feel good to you that he actually said it.

It is really touching to read this. There is a lot of sensitivity in this little letter. A lot of whispered love too. It's very sweet and almost naive when your dad says 'I hope you are the same person'. That's how he loved and loves you. No matter the changes, we always stay true to our heart.

On a lighter note, he seems to have sent you quite a few emails.

Makes no difference.

My mum is very reserved & old fashioned, & would be mortified to see a site like this, let alone know I post on it.
Last mothers day, mum looked around to make sure dad was downstairs,
then closed the bedroom door and said
"About your job, Clearly you are successful, happy & financially well off.
But I don't think you do sales, nor have done for a long time."
what do you think I do?
" I think you work in the adult sex industry & with
Ipswich prostitutes, murders trial verdict on the news, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006_Ipswich_murder_investigation)
I'm just worried for your safety"

I talked a little about what I do generally (no details) & explained my safety precautions, again in general terms.
She suggested my career direction best kept from the rest of the family.
& told me she loved me.

This has drawn us even closer together.

I know it’s a very intimate and personal part of your life and I’m sooo happy you shared it with us. I’m a bit teary eyed here. No one can know another’s despair but I just want to offer that I too struggle with the gulf that divides us all too often from our families. Your post has granted me hope.

Danielle,

I am very happy for you and hope that your father and you can rebuild your relationship. As a father of a young lady, we have our moments, believe me, there have been times that we were not as close as I would like. It is painful to me when we are distant and I know it is painful for her. The point is, neither of us really want to have this distance yet we both let it happen. As the adult, I take full responsibility and I am willing to bet that your father feels the same way. Let this re-opening be but the first step of a long journey. Remember, it took a long time for this distance to develop, give the repair of the relationship a good amount of time as well.

No, the surgeon did that.

Hi Danielle,
Thank you for sharing this with us. I'm happy for you that you have reconcilled with your Father. Sometimes these things take time.

I think perhaps actually having surgery can be a factor too. I think by that time relatives and former friends finally realize this isn't a "phase" you were going through, and the ones with character eventually come through.

I think a big problem also is that while we as transsexuals usually have some kind of support network of understanding people, our relatives and friends often get taken by surprise and have no place to turn to get information. (Yeah, right - I was wearing a girls top in my high school senior picture...)

Anyway, glad things are improving in our relationship.

Hugs,
TS Jamie :-)
