She lived a good life January 17, 1927 – December 25, 2008

She overcame the color barrier in the late 40's unheard of during those times playing in Cabash. Hope the Oscars this year does a special tribute to her. How sad on christmas day and she sang the famous Santa Baby song.

I was reading this and I knew from being familiar with her life before that she went through some things but man did she have it rough.
She described herself as "that little urchin cotton-picker from the South, Eartha Mae."
Wow.
We never saw her as such.
It just goes to show that you dont have to be whatever your upbringing was or your surrounding are.
She elevated herself and became a woman of class and status.
They say her father was a poor white cotton farmer.
People dont understand the mixed race people go through some things because they see both sides and how fucked up they are.
Its a shame she is gone cause that leaves one less legit star around.

I am so saddened by this news.

I am at a loss for words and was just overcome with huge sadness.

I am a huge fan of Miss. Kitt, and had the deep honor of seeing her perform live and meet her as well. She was amazing, one of a kind.
When I saw har she was in her late 70's and had the energy on stage of a 20 year old.

Her music and songs have been a huge inspiration, I will sorely miss her style, music. and energy.

Bro she was a legend it sux, I just hope Hollywood steps up this year and gives her a long tribute at the oscars. She created history no other women has even come close. We are talking 1948 bro :shock: and she didn't play some old black maid on Shirley Temple , she was gorgeous and paved the way for the spoil lack of talent sisters today. SAD DAY INDEED.
