Recently when a couple of us came up with the idea of a particular theme night to have at a friend's home, he came to the planning dinner not with an open mind and ideas to throw around and weigh, but with his plans already in place of how the evening is going to go. Forget the fact that it isn't his home that is hosting it, or that he wants to make it a sleepover, or that he wants to charge money, but he also wants to exclude certain people, which was not in our plans at all. He has managed to wrestle away complete control of this event from the very people who came up with the idea.

What do you make of all this? How does one, if at all possible, get through to another that he should be more open and receptive to other ideas without bruising any feelings? I really think he means well and he certainly is not a bad guy at all, but he must somehow get it through his head that the rest of us get tired of eating at the same eatery via his suggestion for get-togethers, or that others might also have great ideas to contribute to such theme nights that WE CAME UP WITH.
