hey...
having some trouble here trying to play avi files
...I've got the Windows media player, Quiktime, Realplayer and a couple other DVD players things that came w/ my Sony Vaio and none of them will work
....some will play the audio but not the video track
...any suggestions?

Try with VLC, KMC or DiVX.

despite discovering a number of negative reviews in my research, I opted to go w/ the VLC and it works fine

We recommend VLC for all our websites play back.

if you're on Vista/XP/98 use KMC
if you're on OSX use VLC
VLC on windows if not set up correctly will run as the player for online avi videos from websites and crash browsers like firefox

i shall throw in another pointless recommendation for VLC
although i like media player classic better

i have Divx myself, never had a problem with it, love how easy it is to use, and the keyboard shortcuts it has

I use VLC. On the back of another HA Member's recommendation. P.S Anyone know of a good program that can help edit Avi's, like split longer movies into different scenes?
