This week, Allanah Starr is off to Scotland for an appearance at the Edinburgh International Television festival.
NEW YORK, NY) -- Adding even more mainstream recognition to a resume that includes appearances ranging from slapstick reality on MTV to her political views published in New York Magazine, transsexual porn star and scribe, ALLANAH STARR, has been invited to serve as a guest panelist at this week's Edinburgh International Television Festival on August 26th and 27th. The prestigious invite to the festival, sponsored by all major television networks in England, comes from the Executive Producers of the UK based television production company Endemol, following ALLANAH's very successful and controversial appearance on their hit TV show, "Cosmetic Surgery Live," earlier this year.
STARR had a pre-taped surgery and interview in New York City and then appeared live on the show for her reveal completely nude, making her the first transsexual in history to appear completely nude on LIVE network television. The program also made her internationally famous by naming her one of the most cosmetically altered women in the world with 35 surgeries and over 150 cosmetic procedures performed on her anatomy... and counting!
Impressed by both her stage presence and articulateness, the producers are flying her to Scotland to participate in a forum titled "Nip/Tuck TV," where panelists will discuss if the cosmetic surgery craze has gone too far on television in the UK. Other panelists will include two plastic surgeons with opposing views and the head of Channel 5, which airs "Cosmetic Surgery Live." Ms. STARR will speak on behalf of the positive effects of her myriad of surgeries and how she feels that she would not be alive without them today.
"I am very honored that Endemol and The Edinburgh International Television Festival have invited me to discuss one of my favorite topics of conversation: plastic surgery!" says ALLANAH STARR, in a statement made from her New York home over the weekend. "It is quite refreshing that a major television network and film festival can see beyond the fact that I am an adult performer, much less a transsexual, and embrace my other qualities as a persona, performer and speaker. I am indeed deeply humbled and thrilled by it all."
