The video is sexy. As is Britney. But one could certainly debate the artistic merit of her music. Plus musical taste is so subjective.

I have always liked Brittany Spears. I may not go out and buy her albums and all but, we all run astray sometimes and have problems thoughout our lives.

Britney sets record for biggest chart jump of all time

Britney is back on top

Britney Spears broke a record this week, according to Billboard, when Womanizer jumped 95 spots, from 96 to 1, returning to the top of the list for the first time since her debut single ...Baby One More Time hit No. 1 in January 1999. Impressive.

Interestingly, Billboard says "this is the third time in the past two months that the mark for the biggest jump to No. 1 has been shattered. On the Hot 100 dated Sept. 6, T.I. soared 71-1 with Whatever You Like and last week he sprinted 80-1 with Live Your Life." (Clearly the people at billboard had a thesaurus handy)

Spears' single, the first from a new album due for release in December, "is spurred by first-week download sales of 286,000, the biggest opening-week tally by a female artist since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking digital downloads in 2003, besting Mariah Carey's take for Touch My Body by just over 200 units.

Well, hurray for Britney. We are just so pleased around here – though I think Piece of Me should have fared better on the charts. That is a GREAT song. It's a little surprising to learn that she never had another #1 other than Baby One More Time, though, isn't it? I was always under the impression she'd had at least 2 or 3. Probably because she takes up so many headlines. She's apparently had four other top ten hits, the last being Gimme More.

It's not all good times though. Jury selection began this week for Britney's August 2007 driving charge.
