Last great performance has to be Road to Perdition. I also respect him for calling it a day when he knew he could no longer bring his "A game" to a role !

True great !

That will certainly stop the rumors of a Butch and Sun Dance remake

He was extremely goodlooking in his youth. I loved his blue eyes.

What strikes me most about Newman was the fact that he donated all proceeds from his line of foods, salad dressings, spaghetti sauces and popcorn to charity. To date that total is 175 million dollars....wow!

Damn. RIP, Mr. Newman.

Bert Gordon: "I don't think there's a pool player alive shoots better pool than I saw you shoot the other night at Ames. You got talent."

Fast Eddie: "So I got talent. So what beat me?"

Bert Gordon: "Character."

Newman said that he was very proud of the fact that he ended up on Nixon's enemies list due to his opposition of the Vietnam War and the fact that he was a civil rights advocate.

PN was also a great racer and advocate for the sport. many of those who competed against him have said, had it been his focus in his younger days, he could have been one of the greats.
Cool Hand Luke and Hud, still a couple of my faves.
godspeed Paul

His passion was his racing. I knew him from that arena. He never played the 'star card' at the track. Never put his name on a car. Just: PLN
Thank for the honor of being part of it all. You will be missed.

What a class act he was. Here was a man that carried himself with the dignity and grace usually reserved for female movie stars.

In addition to using his celebrity status to further humanitarian and peace-loving causes. I do believe he was also quite generous in his philanthropic efforts.

Shut up Cum Drinker. As always, you are so inappropriate. Nobody cares what you think. Paul Newman was a legendary actor and humanitarian, you are nothing, nada, zip.

funny ,not one person on this board has every replied to one of your inane posts, loser.......... so then, if you dont love me, then why do you follow me around everytime i post, hoping to sniff one of my farts? youre less than nothing, youre a fart sniffer who follows around superior people. i have an old bicycle seat you can have, you illiterate, inferior, weak minded metal midget

I'm most impressed that he remained married to the same woman for 50+ years when he could've had any woman he wanted (and he probably had the most beautiful woman on earth throwing themselves at him).

very sad news. a true legend.I have to say that it is so very touching to see these nice comments about Paul Newman right next to an avatar of a cock going into an ass. Wonder what Paul would have said.

Just as great as his body of work on the screen was, so was his philanthropy. He gave back, be it being part of the Civil Rights movement, or giving away literally tens of millions of dollars to charity. That's a man, a true MAN, my friends. On my way home today I was listening to NPR which had a clip from him on his charity causes and giving back. Newman quipped:

It shouldn't be a duty, it should be instinctive ...

This personifies what it is to be a hero, folks. A true hero.

You did very well in your time here, Paul. Thank you and RIP. :)

Well surely someone can find something to bash Newman about.I mean the sub humans on this site leveled Charlton Heston, forgetting the years he took part in the civil rights movement and countless number of film roles he must have lost as a result of his conviction.Individual gun rights are a good thing:just think of how many positive things would happen to our society if just one on 100,000 gun owners would use them on CEO's and other gang members.A toast of your fine crangrape juice for your memory Paul. The Sting was on of my favorites.
