Ok don't all rush and say sex, it is what it is
I made this thread up regarding trips to the supermarket
So.....................
Name some things you think shouldn't be expensive (supermarket or not)
I'll start
Kool-Aid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kool Aid should not be expensive. Ever
Toilet paper: No one should have to pay $20 for 10 rolls of a necessity
Beer: wrong................just wrong
Diesel: i shouldn't even have to go there
Air: anyone thats ever put .25 to .75 in a fuckin box to get air to fill up their tire knows what i mean
Water: the essence of life................. how can you charge for that?

Healthy food- How is the stuff, and i mean STUFF, your not supposed to eat cheap and accessible, but fruits, vegetables, milk, quality meat expensive.
Medicine- So the doc tell you your gonna die without siad medication, then sends you to the pharmacy and you paying half your life savings to stay alive.

Sunglasses. I lose 'em every time I go to a club/bar. There should be vending machines for those, although they probably already have them in Japan.

Are you talking regular comics or the specials. I've been out of the loop since the seventy-five cent days.
$4.99 for a box of Corn Flakes. What? $4.49 for the noticably smaller box right next to it. Really? Really?

considering I can't fuck without it, yes.................I agree
Solution: Buy yourself a pair of $200+ sunglasses. I assure you, you won't leave them laying around. I've had a pair of Jean-Paul Gaultier sunglasses for 15 years. I dropped $250 for them. never have lost them, never have misplaced them. Ask any of the girls on the site if they misplace their fancy shoes or purses? We keep an eye on things that we value.
I agree
I've owned the same pair of Maui Jim's for 5 years (they cost me around $250 back then) I can't go out in the sun without them, the reduction of glare is incredible with these things, but before them I had 2 pairs of Oakleys which I either lost at the job or ended up giving away........

Designer Clothing.
Pair of Leather Pumps: $60
Pair of Leather Pumps with some asshole designer name on it: $500 and up
Pocket Book: $60-$100
Pocket book with some asshole designer name on it: $500 and up
Ladies, you're all getting taken to the cleaners with your Label Fetishes.
Don't get me wrong, I love nice clothing, but paying 10x as much because Guccis name and logo are stamped all over it is just plain asinine.

That is why i go outlet shopping! :P
lol Why pay retail when you can get 'em in the outlet stores drastically marked down 50-70% cheaper? Who cares if it was last seasons? A coach bag is always and will be a coach bag. ;)

lol, you're both on point
buy an outlet item and rarely sport it for a few years then pull it out
if it's something thats timeless it's retro cool and deemed valuable
great post

And with today's economy going down the drain..Only the truly rich could well afford these designer items. Heck, I know a few girls who flocks to Chinatown for knock offs all the damn time! lol
I don't think it's wise to spend unnecessary $ (money you don't have to begin with) for things you could get cheaper just for display purposes when your whole pantry is empty (or passing your 'lifestyle' overhead to tricks)!! lol

I buy the $6 ones at Target, because I know I'm going to lose them anyways. Style is no match for function. I knew a guy, when I was 18, that stole an entire box of Oakleys off a truck down in Miami once. He brought 'em home, and for a whole summer, every miscreant in Minneapolis was wearing Blades.
True story. As karma would have it, unfortunately that guy is in prison now for other reasons, and I lost my pair of those sunglasses twenty years ago.

Why would I pay over $400 for a Mitchell & Ness reproduction Elgin Baylor jersey when I can get one from Reebok for $99 (which is still pretty steep)?

Diesel - yeah that's a ripoff if there ever was one
TP - what the hell are you buying, i know it's NY, but really? Scott tissue 1000 sheets per roll buddy!
Air - I got two portable compressors for the Eldorado and CTS and I have a bigger one that's also a engine start battery for the boat & Fleetwood. I never pay for air any more.
Drinks in bars, they are like 4-6 times what you'd pay in the overpriced package stores
Women's clothes - a ripoff for over a century - glad i'n not a woman!
Beer should NEVER cost more than soda!

Damn! Where were you when I owned my comic store (1984)? DC never moved for me, it was always Marvel or select independents (This was just before the indy boom, bubble, and bust of the late 80's).

According to well established forum threadjacking dynamics, this topic should transform to either "what's the best lube" or "DC vs Marvel" sometime later today. I'll check back around lunch time. I have to go fix some stuff for some naked girls right now.
