so a blog is like a personal website?
Yep, and a post-op is like a real girl. (No offense meant there---just feeling a little snide, sorry.) Blog is short for web log, and it's a personal journal-type website for posting (usually daily or more frequent) entries, photos, links, visitors' comments, and, in more sophisticated cases, RDS/XML feeds from other sources. Blogs require no web editing expertise as the software takes care of the coding for you (much like this forum does, but in a different way). Blogs are published and shared with others on the web by an individual, who is known as a "blogger". "Blogging" has now become a very popular publishing method on the web and some think it has the potential to move into the corporate world soon.

P.S. Geekmeat, good luck with your blog. It's off to a great start.

oh great,
blogs coming to the corporate world soon.
I can see myself having to check my supervisor's blog every morning, in addition to having to read the 150 emails she sends me everyday.

what happened to the days of metal file cabinets with paper folders? My first office job in 1971 had no faxes, emails, spreadsheets, pc's, blackberries, voice mails. I don't think we even had a copy machine, come to think of it. When a customer called my # and I didn't answer, they'd assume I wasn't at work and call someone else.

sorry for the rant

Don't I know it. Same here. The first computer I used was as an English GTA in grad school in 1981, where we used the Kincaid text analysis system on UNIX boxes to analyze student writing (one of the first universities in the country to do so). I'm a web professional (hosting sites, web design and development, digital photography), and every year it's harder to stay current. Now a client has me looking into Flex, which I've only heard rumors about before. Can't keep up with the changes!
