In line with natural and man made catastrophe/ies that's been happening in all parts of the world i.e. Tsunami's, Earthquake's, Terrorist attacks etc.

How do you prepare for all these? What would you bring, if worst comes to worst for survival? Do you have a one wish or thing you wish to do before you die?

Is the end really near? And do you think that we are well prepared for human extinction?

Ah yes. Well that is where my Navy Seal Ninja training comes into play as I generate electricity by rubbing together two bioluminescent jellyfish (fireflies will do).

I did a lot of reading on survival years ago. In a worst case scenario, you will need 6-8 weeks of dry and canned foods, gas, diesel or LN gas. But the most important thing needed is liquid assets like gold, silver and ammo (if the banking system fails)

I would personally go out and buy an 12 gauge pump shotgun and an AR-15 with lots of ammo. I have both...

People can get down right dirty when starving or out of fuel, look at the aftermath of hurricane Katrina. People were held up at gunpoint to have their gas stolen.

I love this country, but if something really really bad happened you would have to fend for yourselves for a good while!

And sorry if this offends anyone, but "I pray this day never happens"

all you need initially is a knife. Without it, you are dead meat.

All McGyver ever needed was a pocket knife and a roll of duct tape.
I would also add Kira to my list, so she could protect me.

Seriously, it would depend on where you live. To some extent this would determine what disasters you might face. Each would have different requirements.
Tornados - no warning - somewhat seasonal
Earthquakes - no warning - year round
Hurricanes - 7-10 days warning - seasonal
Flooding - advanced warning - somewhat seasonal
Wildfire - little to no warning - potentially year round

Everybody should read "The Zombie Survival Guide".

I can go you one better Nuclear War Survival Skills by Creason H. Kearny (http://www.oism.org/nwss/) If this book is to be believed if one can dig a deep enough shelter and take two weeks of food and water with them then they can survive almost anything.

So I would take with me. Tons of food and bottled water. Axe, saw, shovels knives, AK 47 and a much ammo as I could carry for shooting the irradiated people trying to break in and kill me. You know the basics.

The most sought after items in a post apocolyptic disaster world will be batteries, pharmaceuticals and .22 caliber bullets. I have plenty of all of these.

for an earthquake - you're not going to have any warning do bend over and kiss your ass goodbye.

for a tsunami - 90% of the UP population does not have t worry about this. for the few affected, see the above item.

Hurricane - if you actually get caught in a cat 4 or 5 hitting landfall on you, you are a bigger dumass than i could possibly imagine. Water is the most essential item here.

For a chinese invasion - we've got about 10-15 years to get ready for that one. maybe less if iran gets a nuke.

12 Survival Essentials:

1. Map of your area

2. Compass

3. Flashlight and batteries or wind up flashlight

4. Food – Duh?

5. Water

6. Clothes

7. Sleeping bag

8. First Aid Kit

9. Pocket Knife or Multi Tool

10. Matches – While you may not need to start a fire in the city, matches or a lighter can literally save your life in the wilderness. Fire keeps you warm, dries your wet socks and cooks your food – never leave home without a fire starter of some kind.

11. Whistle – Whistles scare away wild animals, potential muggers and can signal your whereabouts should you get separated from the pack.

12. Wind up Radio

;)
