I was just in Modesto this Sunday. I stopped by the Macy's after my buddies baseball game. Where is a good place to get a drink there. I ended up at Red Lobster but that wasn't hot.

Are you going to the fights at the Stockton Arena this Saturday? Stockton's own Nick Diaz is fighting.

I've only lived in the area for a couple of months, so I don't know any good places... only driven by Stockon once, but I did see the commercial for the fight at the arena!

I get up there from time to time for work. I live in in Signal Hill up on the hill from Long Beach but I get around a bit or work.

Anybody else from down this way?

I had a ton of family out that way and spent most of my childhood summers just outside of modesto.

Sucks out there.

Its sooooo hot here... im originally from the East Coast so im more used to mid-70 degree summers and snow starting in October lasting til April- i haven't seen a day under 90 degrees in a couple of weeks! LOL

BTW mandy i've always wanted to head up to the Pacific Northwest; how is it up there?

I don't live in Modesto, but I do own a house out in Riverbank which is right around the corner from you.
BTW, it looks like you are new to the group, so welcome aboard. Hope you enjoy your stay here.

thanks.

Modesto is a very hard place to spend time, though it was the big city for me growing up. I get all sorts of emotional when I think about it, I haven't seen my family since my grandfathers funeral (I transitioned shortly thereafter). They've got religion in a way that scares me out there.

Anyways, all I ever did for fun out there was swim, sneak out and get drunk and try to have sex. I recommend befriending someone with a pool.

dan_drade- i've been visiting the site for a while now kindof as a "lurker" but decided to get more involved as of recent

mandy- in my opinion modesto is horrible, but i guess i just have to get to know more people... i live in an apartment complex just west of modesto, and luckily we have a pool

Well it's great to see that you are no longer a lurker. This board needs more people fron cali, especially girls :)
I have also been kind of a lurker lately myself. Too much work and a lack of time for the Internet keep me from posting here like I used to.

LOL, thats a good one.

But I do know of one thing that is good about living in Modesto. If you are a skier, Modesto is a lot closer to all of the ski resorts than the SF Bay area.

true. i actually went to North Lake Tahoe this past February... it was quite warm tho, like 40 degrees at the bottom of the mountain so i was snowboarding on wet snow... hopefully next time it'll be a little bit colder and there'll be some powder

Yeah I was gonna ask that too. With all the great options out here in CA what made you choose Modesto?

it wasn't really up to me... i'm living with family so i'm kinda stuck here until my income improves

Well last year was a really crappy year for skiing. I did not even go once :( . Hopefully this comming winter will be like normal. The skiing is usually pretty good up there, especially in Tahoe. I usually go at least once a month and last winter I was going crazy without a little ski time!!! LOL.

The post you quoted is 8 years old. If anything "is up", I'm sure it's not up anymore.
