There's a lot of activity going on here in the UK at the mo about making paying for sex illegal. The powers that be are looking at the Swedish model of criminalizing people who pay for sex. One of the main arguments against such a law is that it drives it underground, and makes it more difficult for the police/authorities to monitor the situation.
As I understand it, in the US, both paying and and soliciting for sex is illegal.
My question is, considering the size of the country, is there a massive underground prostitution scene going on in the US?
