Another thread got me to thinking about an old friend. So I thought I'd post this here for all of us to remember that freindship and love and our memories of one another is really all we have in the end.

Hugs,
TS Jamie :-)

A Vanished Friend
Around the corner I have this friend,
in this great city that has no end,
yet the days go by and weeks rush on,
and before I know it, a year is gone.

I never see my old friends face,
for life is a swift and terrible race,
he knows I like him just as well,
as in the days when I rang his bell,
and he rang mine, but we were younger then.

Now we are busy tired old men.
Tired of playing a foolish game,
Tired of trying to make a name.

“Tomorrow” I say! “I will call on Jim
just to show that I’m thinking of him.”

But tomorrow comes and goes
and distance between us grows and grows.

Around the corner, yet miles away.

“Here is a telegram sir,” “Jim died today.”

And that is what we get and deserve in the end.

Around the corner, a vanished friend.

(Later Edit) per post below, it's called "Around The Corner" by Charles Towne.

Thank your dear. A friend sent it to me several years ago, but didn't know who wrote it.

Hugs,
TS Jamie :-)

Beautiful, Jamie. Thanks.

... It kind of got me thinking about Longfellow's Two Ships. ...We're definitely getting too melancholic in here right now (sniff).
