With all the conspiracy theorists on this board I thought I’d post this documentary series. It’s the most detailed, logical and complete thesis that explains how the Western World has typically become a more selfish, more controlled and less free society that I’ve come across, and consequently does away with any need for Illuminati, Jewish, Lizard or Crab people conspiracies. Given that it covers mathematical, economic, philosophical and political theories, as well as psychiatry and genetics, it can be hard going but it’s really worth while persisting with right to the end imho. It does gets easier as you go along. It sometimes has a strong British slant (especially during the first episode; made by the BBC) but there’s just as much (if not more over the 3 episodes) of interest for an intelligent U.S. audience.

The Trap (television documentary series)
The series consists of three, one-hour programmes which explore the concept and definition of freedom, specifically "how a simplistic model of human beings as self-seeking, almost robotic, creatures led to today's idea of freedom."

P.S. This will be pretty much my last post here, at least for a long time, so I guess it’s time to say goodbye. Heading someplace really cold (with no unmonitored computers), though it’s warmed quite a bit recently. :) I’ve really enjoyed my time here and what many posters have said, especially myself, oops Quinn, trish, chefmike, Oli, ezed, hippifried, qeuqheeg, brenda, mandy, LG; and JWBL, hollywoodbuckstrap, and suckseed on the main board, and I’ll happily buy you all a few beers in the unlikely event that our paths cross. Hell, I’ll even buy guyone a beer… but it’ll have to be commie beer won‘t it?

Just because we disagree doesn't mean we can't drink together. Besides I thought all commies drink vodka.

I myself prefer grain alcohol and rain water.

I drink mostly scotch myself, though sometimes a shot of Templeton's rye whisky hits the spot. I never touch vodka; ergo I'm not a commie.
