Just go to off topic here for a bit.. does anyone watch this show? Tonight was the season finale and it was incredible. Best new show in a long time, in my opinion.

I see those guys all the time over here - Hurley was out for cocktail hour a few weeks back, the hobbit is all over the place (as a hobbit should be) - being a fellow Brit I should buy him a tin of beans or something, Harold Perrineau spotted in the mall, etc - just need to track down Locke, The Stepfather (remember that movie) as he's awesome.

Lost is well done, but it has never drawn me in. I spend too much time in front of the boobs, err, boob tube as it is. :) Alias, in SF mode (the show changes modes like a chameleon its colors), had a brilliant season's finale, though. That sudden crash of the car into the side of their car just after Vaughn tells Sid, his bride-to-be, that his real name isn't Michael Vaughn, nice. Now we have to wait till next season to see if he's alive, or, more likely, if he's lost his memory in the crash.
24's closing scene with Jack walking off into the sunset was the best closing scene I've seen in a long time. I almost don't want the show to come back (and am a bit leery of the promise of next season being a confrontation with China...things escalate way out of any proportion on that show too often, but it's still great).
Smallville: how long can they keep it going? My understanding when it started was that it was at most a five-year run. After all, the dude's got to put on the cape at some point. I mean, we all know what happens. In order to change lives they have to introduce new characters (Lionel Luthor, Chloe). Bringing in Lois at this stage, while great for ratings, breaks the 67-year-old tradition too much.

Carnivale rules all. And there will be no 3rd season :(
And its hurts me to accept this fact. They couldve simply ended the season but instead they let sophie bring her pops back...God I hate HBO.

BLASPHEMY. That show sucks compared to the age old tale of good v.s evil/God V.s Satan/Guy meets girl but she turns out to be a demon. Oz was way better than Six feet under, The Ali G show is the second Greatest HBO show On..No I take that back Since Carnivale got cancelled Ali G is the Best show.

yeah, like watching the whole 1st season of carnivale.
you lose for 3 reasons:
1. carnivale was canceled by hbo. they were dealt their fate.
2. sfu decided to go out on a high and told hbo that this would be the final season. they were never canceled by hbo. they decided their fate.
3. sfu has won more awards than carnivale
carnivale canceled by hbo + sfu canceling hbo + sfu awards - carnivale awards = (sfu > carnivale)

Touche...Carnivale is dead and I accept defeat...But I blame people like you for its death. You damn lifetime fans. But know that Carnivale was canceled Because the creator signed a contract with their competition,Shotime.Oh and SFU has won more awards because its been on for a very long and boring time. The creators of that show decided to stop now because It really was a boring show to write.
Damn you lifetime fans.

Best show on network TV in a hell of a long time -- "24" hands down, period!
Period, athough the finale this past Monday left a lot to be desired, as it putted out with a whimper instead of the bam it's left us with the previous three seasons. Word from Fox executives is that Jack will be back next January to take on the mighty Chinese sweatshops which are currently employed by Walmart, from a beach in the Bahamas somewhere where he'll be directing CTU all the while sipping mai tais and donning a Groucho disguise to obscure his identity. ;)
I tried to watch "Lost" but fell behind as I missed a few early shows ... Did the mainland just write them off, or is anyone still conducting a search for them from the outside ? Just curious.
I started watching "Eyes" with Tim Daley a couple of months ago, but it looks as if the network isn't going to pick that series up come September. Too bad. I thought it was great little show. ... He, Daley, played a great Fugitive a few years back! :)
Great thread, by the way. :)

Mugai_hentaisha, I've got to agree with you there, BG is definitely one of the best shows on tv these days. I was particularly stunned because the original show was so weak. BG almost (almost) makes up for the SciFi channel canceling Farscape (and at least they gave us the mini and there may be more to come).

Well don't know about farscape but the two main actors from Farscape have signed on for season 9 of Stargate SG-1. which to me is ok loved Farscape and I love SG-1 so time will tell.

Ben Browder and who else has Joined. Im a fan of SG-1. But Farscape is a far better series. I love Scorpius, Pilot, Dargo,Chiana. Hopefully someone with enough cash will come along and Add more seasons to this show.

Well, first off, I was referring to The Peacekeeper Wars, which aired last fall (two part miniseries) and which actually provided closure for the series. But there's also been talk of possible revival down the line; here's an excerpt of any interview with Claudia Black from Dreamwatch magazine.

Claudia Black, who has already appeared as a guest star on one episode of SG-1, is the other. I believe she's supposed to recap that same character next season.

I figure it was Claudia. The Peace keeper wars was nice but its clear they basically crammed a shit load of stuff into a small miniseries, Just to give everyone the sense of closure, Eh it was good while it lasted.

Okay, okay. It's time to put an end to this thread, or at least a kink in it. The best sci-fi show of all time, despite the chincy $4.29 they spent on producing an episode, is the original Outer Limits. Well written and well directed shows have a tendency of overcoming their special effect shortcomings. :)
... Imagine if they had been given some money to work with ? Those paper mache monsters were a bit hard to take at times.

You could make the same argument for Dr Who; I remember one episode featuring a kid's toy rubber T Rex which "walked" backward by obviously being wiggled side-to-side by hand back from the camera. Now they're in full production again, with a full budget: I wonder if any of the magic is left? (Any UK viewers?)
