first up: am a real woman (read that as birth and shit). second up that message was cheesy (read that as update your deepness vocabulary). third up it wasn't meant as a "nasty" message, just a wake up call to reality.

holla back

Well, Moms are important. Without them there'd be no one around to get on each others nerves on HA.

I liked it Gia. Is it kind of "cheesy" or maybe a bit square? Probably. This world has accelerated into a frenzied desensitized existence. During this time I think some "old-fashioned" philosophy is perfect. I unfortunately lost my Dad when I was 5. My Mom and then 17 year-old sister raised me and most of the influential and competent people in my life since then have happened to be women. Maybe a coincidence. But they coached me through tough and troubled inner city streets, athletics, college, and I feel that in doing so have made me the perfect gentleman. It's first and foremost in my mind to make everyone around me feel good and comfortable. And last month when I balled to my Mom how I screwed up my life losing a very good business and a ton of dough she reminded me of my success which was that "gentlemanly" thought. She also told me that making money for me was easy and asked how many things I have going already. I told her. She said "I thought so."

She made me walk tall again like women seem to be able to do in general. So in the middle of this oasis of pornography and adult entertainment I appreciated, on this holiday weekend, that I was reminded of the "existence and strife" of women. An example which is so obvious but so often ignored. So call it cheesy, corny, square, but many of the girls here embody that spirit, and are more than sex stars if you give them a chance.

I'm not playing to anyone here. Maybe shouldering some of the cheesiness. But like it was said by a mind greater than my own, "unless we all become like little children, the world is doomed," well that embodies the spirit and point you make as well. It's time to put others before ourselves. Let kids grow up with their parents intact. Verify their education. Value each other like we've come to value useless materialism.

It's Sunday. The lesson of God is important to me. Sacrifice is what it's all about. Thanks for the post.

You reminded me of this by Maya Angelou:

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE .

enough money within her control to move out
and rent a place of her own,
even if she never wants to or needs to...

A WOMAN SHOUL D HAVE ...

something perfect to wear if the employer,
or date of her dreams wants to see her in an hour...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ..

a youth she's content to leave behind....

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...

a past juicy enough that she's looking forward to
retelling it in her old age....

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE .....

a set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black lace bra...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ..

one friend who always makes her laugh.. and one who lets her cry...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ....

a good piece of furniture not previously owned by anyone else in her family...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...

eight matching plates, wine glasses with stems,
and a recipe for a meal,
that will make her guests feel honored...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...

a feeling of control over her destiny...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

how to fall in love without losing herself..

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

how to quit a job,
break up with a lover,
and confront a friend without;
ruining the friendship...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

when to try harder... and WHEN TO WALK AWAY...

EVERY WOMAN SHO ULD KNOW...

that she can't change the length of her calves,
the width of her hips, or the nature of her parents..

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

that her childhood may not have been perfect..but it's over...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

what she would and wouldn't do for love or more...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
how to live alone... even if she doesn't like it..

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW..

whom she can trust,
whom she can't,
and why she shouldn't take it personally...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KN OW...

where to go...
be it to her best friend's kitchen table...
or a charming inn in the woods....
when her soul needs soothing...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

what she can and can't accomplish in a day..
a month...and a year...

That was cool to read. The little boy also should've asked why do women constantly need reassurance to feel better about themselves. lol

Peg... Your welcome Peggy and I think you embody that aura and humility in being the woman that you are. I look up to women such as yourself who carries themselves with great pride and dignity and i'm still learning a lot of things from everyone just like everyone else. :!:

Thank you so much Gia, I am truly humbled by your compliment.

-> i GOT THIS MESSAGE FROM MYSPACE AND I DEDICATE THIS TO ALL THE WOMAN AND TS HERE IN THIS FORUM!

A little boy asked his mother, "Why are you crying?"

"Because I'm a woman," she told him.

"I don't understand," he said.

His Mom just hugged him and said, "And you never will."

Later the little boy asked his father, "Why does mother seem to cry for no reason?"

"All women cry for no reason," was all his dad could say.

The little boy grew up and became a man, still wondering why women cry.

Finally he asked God. He said, "God, why do women cry so easily?"

God said:

" When I made the woman she had to be special.
I made her shoulders strong enough to carry the weight of the world, yet gentle enough to give comfort.

I gave her an inner strength to endure childbirth and the rejection that many times comes from her children.

I gave her a hardness that allows her to keep going when everyone else gives up, and take care of her family through sickness and fatigue without complaining.

I gave her the sensitivity to love her children under any and all circumstances, even when her child has hurt her very badly.

I gave her strength to carry her husband through his faults and fashioned her from his rib to protect his heart.

I gave her wisdom to know that a good husband never hurts his wife, but sometimes tests her strengths and her resolve to stand beside him unfaltering.

And finally, I gave her a tear to shed. This is hers exclusively to use whenever it is needed."

"You see my son," said God, "the beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair.

The beauty of a woman must be seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart - the place where love resides."

Can somebody please point me in the general direction where I can find a woman like this? Thanks in advance

Male viewpoint, apologize for butting in....The concept is wonderful! Unfortunately, I have never encountered that woman. And, you know how they say, "Perception is Reality." :shrug

Another male butting in, but I feel I have the right, as I am a father.

I gave her a hardness that allows her to keep going when everyone else gives up, and take care of her family through sickness and fatigue without complaining.
Hmmm, yeah, never heard of a man taking care of his family without complaining.

I gave her the sensitivity to love her children under any and all circumstances, even when her child has hurt her very badly.
Trust me, despite my Y chromosome, I will love my daughter no matter what.

I gave her strength to carry her husband through his faults and fashioned her from his rib to protect his heart.
 It's 2007, can we stop pretending this is based in reality?

I'm not trying to be anti-women here, but come on. This is typical "only women can nurture" BS that should have stayed in the 1950's.

Besides, like crayons said..it's cheesy. It's so cheesy, I need cracker.

lol I was just kidding. Really us guys are attracted to women who don't need a man because it eases our minds more that you are maybe less likely to cheat. As opposed to those that always are seen with a boyfriend. I hate those types that always have to have somebody. Makes you wonder. Uh but yea, its true that this message goes to men also unless it said something about a vagina. :? But I'm sure if it was in there I could've spotted it.
