It looks like the National Organization for Women (NOW), has succeeded where countless mayors and LE has failed. New York Magazine has agreed to stop running "sex" adverts after being lobbied by NOW. Apparently NOW claims such adverts promote prostitution and demean women. Now has been also had success with other print media in the New York area including Time Out New York and The New York Press.

Just for the record, IIRC New York Magazine had one of the highest rates in the NYC area for print advert rates, least that is what I've heard from the "girls". Print media has been declining anyway when it comes to escorts, with much of the action moved onto the Interent. Just as Exotics.com and Eros.com killed off Screw Magazine, Craigslist and other free online advert sites are probably killing off the free or low cost print adverts. The Village Voice probably makes a pretty penny still, but their ad rates were always cheaper than either NY Mag or Screw (again from what I've heard), besides the Village Voice is free and one can pick it up under the illusion of pretending to read about the "arts" or other articles. *LOL*
