I have had a guy calling me over the yrears, 3 at least, and harasses me. Now the asshole never blocks his number so it always shows up. Then one time the asshole e-mailed me, and the dumb faggot has his first and last name in the signature. I have his first and last name. phone number and e-mail address, what can I do. I almost posted it here and said "have fun guys!!"" can I???So far tonite he has called 7 times. He does this every few months. I missed the call because I was on webcam and when i called back, he thought i was a different girl. guess he likes to play on the phone. sounds like he is older like in his 50's so this is not some kid playing on the phone. What can I do to tach him a lesson??

I'm sure you probably could, I would imagine the site probably has some sort of release policy that exempts them from any punishment when it comes to members posting details about people. You would need to check with the mods to be sure though.

I have to say that I am incredibly sympathetic, considering I'm dealing with a similar situation right now and am likely going to be calling the police when I hunt down the IP address of a particular guy (it's the internet versus a phone number, which is slightly more easily blocked). I'm not freaking out, but I'd really rather not have to deal with this, in the first place.

I've been reading this with much interest.

Having had the Wilmington News Jouranl (One of the Gannet rags) poke me more than 300 times in one month, I can relate to the issue. I used *57 to record the calls (Not an actual recording, but a time/date stamp for reference) and then called TPC (The Phone Company) to persue the matter. Two drawbacks: Each *57 ping costs a buck or so, and in the middle of the problem, TPC changed hands (Fuck-you-very-much, Judge Green). The original company (Diamond State Telephone) credited the charges and went to great lengths to slam TNJ/Gannet via the Telcommunications Consumer Privacy Protection Act of 1994 (Which would have netted me enough in the settlement to buy another house, had it ever gone to trial), but after the switch to Verizon, the case fell flat as the V had no vested interest to follow along.

As an aside, if you are ever bored, 302-292-8200, 8201, 8202, etc. up to 8299 is the local Gannet boiler room. Call early, call often, if you get a bizzy signal, redial. If someone answers, try to sell them on a subscription to the Snooze Urinal...I mean the News Journal. It confuses the shit outta them and, I am sure, causes a lot of prairie doggin' at the cube farm. :lol:

Persons who do this sort of thing do it because they know for the most part they can. Escorts and or those engaged in illicit activity aren't likely to contact LE and request a "trap" placed on their line, and the trap is what most phone companies require today (you are given a code number) before they will start an investigation on your line. Proceedure works by having the phone company set up a monitor on the line, along with LE, and when a call comes in from the prankster/harraser, one enters the code and the call is traced back. Telephone company cannot tell you any of the information, but will turn such over to LE. LE will take things from there.

You just know the first question when either the subscriber contacts LE or LE traces and finds the perp is "how did you get this phone number?". And while running an advert say on Eros.com or CL isn't illegal, LE will soon enough put two and two together. That is not to say they will not investigate, but then it becomes a complaint by a "suspected" sex worker ....... In short, wouldn't get one's hopes up, unless the person is threatening physical violence. Even then LE is likely to tell the you pack up and move, or some such nonesense.

As for a crank phone caller getting someone arrested, that is not his fault, if one wasn't doing something illegal, you wouldn't get arrested. It's like people who fault those red light cameras for causing them to get a ticket when they run a red light.

Anywho, short of changing one's phone number, or finding the person and dealing with him or her yourself, there aren't that many other options.
