I know what u mean bc i used to work as a cleaner in a retirment home, while i was still at school. I used to help out look after them and give them their meds too, and u don't mind working as much bc ur doing it for a good cause.

At one job I simply threatened to quit anytime my comfort or security was on the edge. The bosses would assess the consequences and beg me to come back with offers of perks they offered to no one else. By the time I really =DID= quit (Because they had run out of perks to offer me), I had scored my own office, my own custom schedule, a paid vacation, and a company car (A brand new Cadillac for which they even paid the gas). Not bad for a minimum wage job with little chance of promotion or advancement (The actual salary was minimum plus commission, but the accounting model was purposely designed so that little, if any, commission was ever paid out). Including my final departure, I quit that job six times in four years.

These days, in a more structured environment with union protection and benefits, I've learned to just keep my mouth shut, stand back, and do the job. Meanwhile, tornadoes of office intrigue swirl around me all the time and I quietly watch the bodies fall from the sky. It's very entertaining.

If I ever feel that my position is in jeopardy and that I need to do something spectacular to keep it, I'll just start talking. And I'll keep talking until arrests are made and people are driven to tears. :twisted:

nothing really, I've quit very well paying jobs just because I simply refuse to put up with alot of shit from anybody.

(personally I always love the look on an asshole bosses face when he threatens your job if you don't carry out his will immediatly and you just go ok, and walk out the door...)

My present career is the the car business. As a "Corvette Specialist" at a Chevy store, I like the work, I like the interaction with clients. However, my past and prospective customers rely on my personal integrity. There is nothing, the store could ask me to do (in order to keep the job), where I would even consider breaching my integrity, and they know that. I don't need the job, I'm there because I like what I do.
People come to me for sales, advice and help, because they know they will get a straight answer(something foriegn to people in car sales). I have become lifelong friends with many of the people I've met doing this.

I try to give my best with work, give it my all.

I also won't have a relationship at work, steal from the
job, be it equipment or time.

I can put up wtih a fair amount of inequity, but if it's too
much, then I will start looking for another job.

It's alot like a relationship, treat me well, I'll treat you well.

I spent my six hours at work today rigging up a couple of black lights to switched power, and spreading out a couple of spider webs in the back corner of a dance floor. I also constructed a large spider silhouette to hang in the web. We're getting ready for Halloween.

What would I do to keep my job? Nothing. Finding another job is easy. I don't have any problems with this one though.
