Here I go again......
This racial shit keeps flaring up........
I really do TRY to not dwell on racial shit,perceived or real.
BUT.....
So last week at work im reading about the west virginia tortue case.....
I am shocked.......none of my coworkers know anything about it.
I had up until then knew VERY little about JENA 6.
So I am at work FUMING......all my coworkers who are white can tell I am very upset about this and basically are in agreement with my outrage about the tortue.
I had to find out about it online NOT on ANY of the mass media outlets.
At the time......the middle of last week the situation was known about for several days AT LEAST.
So I go online and there is ALMOST nothing about it.
Finally I find a small write up on B.E.T and a website called "CONCRETELOOP".
I tell one of my coworkers......"Black people dont know anything about this yet but when they do watch out they will be outraged".
Several people on this CONCRETELOOP website bring up the fact that the mass media is not covering this story at all while they harp on BRITTANY and O.J.
Then they compare the outrage of america and americans to Michael Vick(who I dont like) and compare it to NO OUTRAGE about the west virginia tortue case OR JENA 6.
And they are right!
Finally at work yesterday a black guy that I talk with quite a bit comes up to me and starts talking about JENA 6.
He is filling me in on ALL the details and we start talking about whats been going on lately.
This guy is like me NOT a guy that likes to cry over racial shit so when he comes up to me and we have a 30 minute conversation about it I know something is up.

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN AMERICA?

The media is showing its true colors lately and its kinda sad.

SB: I agree with the gist of your post. Yes, had she been white the media would be all over it. Even the cable networks, which look for any type of salacious sensationalism they can find aren't covering it. What does that tell you? So Brittany's "motherhood" and drug problems trump this story? I think not. I'm sure the cable network execs would argue that Brittany's news brings in more viewers, and they're probably right, but it just shows you how far we have yet to go as a society and priorities.

Even I'm mixed up. I superimposed the Jena case in New Orleans with the case of the woman being enslaved for "five" days.

Neither are on Nancy Grace or Geraldo.

You missed the point...you dont have it good there...I was using Vietnam,the evil communist country as an example to the contrary.I just returned from a tour of Hanoi and Saigon,and expected to see repressed sad tired people slaving away for the Sickle and Hammer.
Instead i met lovely free and HAPPY people who are free to choose their jobs,schooling etc,laughing smiling,friendly....I went to a trance club and they fed me free tequila shots cuz it was my birthday.Oh and they sang me HB too...I had a group of old men sitting in a park erupt into applause when i gave a little girl a rose.I stayed in a hotel right next door to the Dolce and Gabbana store..D&G the staple of any commie country huh?!

My point is that the American press has been feeding the people such horseshit for so long about so many issues that few realize it.

I grew up close to where the thing in WV happened. If she'd been white,it would've been written off a "Crazed Hillbilly Methhead's Family Tortures His Girlfriend". Other than her skin color that's exactly what happened.

She went down to celebrate his release from jail and they all went on a three week meth binge that went bad at the end. Doesn't make it any better but that's what was going on.

Logan County is a rough assed place. Home of the Hatfields of the feud fame and "Cornbread Mafia" country. You mind your own business and don't ask a lot of questions when you go down there. People have a funny way of disappearing in that lil' section of the country where WV,KY,TN,NC,and VA all wad up together.

The media has always been like that,all you have to do is compare the duke lacrosse case and this jena 6 one.The media loved those guys and cover it almost everyday and well that jena 6 case is no where to be found in the media,even if it was on the news those guys would be villafied anyway.

I posted the story about the african american women who was tortured here and as much as i tried to inform people of it with bumps,they just ignored it kinda like the media.The media is bias and if they don't like you,you don't get covered.
