I am exhausted ---drank ten beers (after a twenty two hour fast) --then took my meds ----and here I am not -

(I drink -therefore I am)

waste of time ----okay ---

Earth in theory --will be heat blasted in Xbillion years (I guess the random future can be predicted somehow) --

okay ---say some freak --were to bury a time capsule/thing --deep ----say like 1000 feet -----plants it today --

now ---life's purpose is decided/built/formed/grown/established ---by the hand of fate ---but the one whom lives this life ---obviously paints their own forward path (already chosen someway) ---

now--yes -we WILL die --of course ---nobody just keeps on living --

(nobody except Elvis)--.............

I apologize --but I can't keep my eyes awake ---

please don't say "pffft" ---whatever ---free will is god ---thank gosh your mom is here to keep me ---crazy --

I've got to ask the question, dreamer, what kind of meds?

If you're trying to say that free-will is an illusion, dreamer, then I agree with you:
Genetics + Environment = Who and what you are (Phenotype).
No control over your genetics + no control over your enivronment = No control over your phenotype.

Try reading some Peter Wessel Zapffe, dreamer. His ideas work for me. Just accept things, and try to do something useful and good with the time you have. That's the only "free-will" you really have.

I dunno ---what I was getting at --or beginning to get at ----was that:

like say some crazy dude buried a time capsule thing ---deep in the Earth ----then the sun expands ---and frys everything --turning the surface of the Earth to sand/dust and PAIN!! ---then x amount of years pass ---and some crazy alien life form finds our once blue marble -----and they LIKE it --somehow (even though there won't be any more atmosphere --or life --or Tgirls) -----and they dig --and dig ---and they find that lunatic's capsule ----(or hell --maybe they'd find millions of time capsules) ----and in that capsule was a METALLICA CD --say Ride the Lightning ---

what I was gonna try to say was that ---some people have made permanent impressions on this planet -----maybe they'd find stuff about Hitler ---or Oprah ---or the NY Mets ---or even OJ Simpson -----some people's existance will go on forever ---

can you picture some freaky alien species really really enjoying FIGHT FIRE WITH FIRE ---a few billion years from now? -----would they label James Hetfield some kind of messiah? ---they would learn about us from our dusty past ---would they regret not finding us sooner? -----

Why are you taking seroquel? That is a very strong antipsychotic, isn't it? My sister is in the mental-health field(she works in a psych ward) and she has mentioned that they use it for manic and schizoid behavior in patients. It is supposed to be some powerful stuff, and it might not be such a good idea to drink with it.

The Earth will be atomized when the Sun goes nova and those time capsules along with it. It won't even be a cinder. So what's Metallica supposed to do? The electromagnetic broadcasts of their music will be sooo diminished by the time they leave the solar system their information content will be swamped by cosmic noise. The way I figure it is: why leave a permanent mark? If everyone went around marking up the planet it'd look like shit. Do your thing and let it pass.

Yes, I’m sure a nova of the Sun would swallow and vaporize the Earth. But that won’t happen in for about 5 gigayears. Five gigayears is also Earth’s current age and also half the age of the universe. So we’re talking a long time from. Still, I don’t understand the obsession with leaving permanent marks and the longing for infinity. Think. What do people really yearn for? What do they spend their money on? Rides at the park, lap dances, blow jobs, 18 year old scotch, good food, sports events, concerts. All these things are ephemeral. Now you see them, now you don’t. The most valuable things in the universe are momentary and life is the most valuable thing in the universe. Life is a kind of fire that ignites certain planets and not others. Life is a hell of a ride. Life is a wonderful fuck. It’s a delicious banquet and an abrupt conversation of ejaculated exclamations. If it weren’t so, it wouldn’t be rare, it wouldn’t be wonderful, and it wouldn’t be worth the trouble.

"Pretty Maids All In A Row"

Hi there,
How are 'ya?
it's been a long time
Seems like we've come a long way

My, but we learn so slow
and heroes, they come
and they go

and leave us behind as if
we're s'pposed to know ....... why

Why do we give up our hearts to the past?
and why must we grow up so fast?

And all you wishing well fools
with your fortunes
someone should send you a rose

with love from a friend,
it's nice to here from you
again

And the storybook comes to a close
Gone are the ribbons and bows

Things to remember places to go

Pretty Maids all in a Row

call me a sensitive bitchboy ---but even the words make my eyes leak ----maybe cuz I can hear it as I read it ---

Isn't the purpose of life to live it? Every moment of existence, even the painful ones are an incredible gift. Experience itself, regardless whether pleasant or not is the meaning of life. imho But what do I know? I'm a naturist.

Meaning something isn't the same thing as making a permanent mark. Don't conflate "meaning" with "infinity". The first is a substantial and obtainable concept. The second is unobtainable.

Our Sun won't nova unless we have some kinda companion star that we, for some odd reason, know nothing about. It'll end up a white dwarf and then fade away. It's also said that the shift to Red Giant will lessen its pull on the earth and we might escape being scorched ("we" meaning the planet itself not life). Though I'm sure the expulsion of gases from its outer atmostphere will probably cause some significant scorching. :2cent

manbearpig: I think you're right, I'm using the wrong terminology...instead of nova I'm thinking of the expansion to red giant status, which will push the Sun's atmosphere beyond Earth.

Even if mankind survived that, we have a high chance of being completely ejected from the galaxy from the impending collision between The Milky Way and Andromeda a few billion years hence. I'd love to live long enough to see that. It'd be pretty (and all hell would break loose haha).

Our legacy is in our galactic trash. Space probes that are now working their way out of the solar system. I remember reading somewhere that our entire library or something like that is onboard a disk on some probe. Then again...it could've been a dream...or a cartoon.

All I’m saying is that meaning and value have little to do with making a permanent record. Think of the billions of people who have already lived and loved on this planet, all but a handful are totally forgotten and lost to oblivion. Geneticists tell us that all but a few family lines eventually die out. Imagine the lives of unknown two passionate lovers, devoted to each other, their family and their now extinct and unknown community in a remote valley four thousand years ago. Were their lives worthless because they left nothing behind? Was their love meaningless? I think the opposite. I think their lives may have been full of meaning, and that perhaps such a life is more valuable than that of a Napolean or an Einstein. I don’t think my view is the one that is cynical, heartless, hopeless and hard. I think reaching for infinity is hopeless, hard and ultimately (as you are finding out yourself) cruel. If I could, every time I see you reaching for it, I would slap your hand away like a mother looking after the well being of her child.

I dunno why --but this doesn't have the first verse ----DEMONIA 6 ----THIS SONG IS SICK!! ---the only reason I bought the new Candlemass ---was/is because of the new vocalist --Robert Lowe

(he's been the vocalist for Solitude Aeturnus for like 15 years --and was the guest vocalist on an album called THE LIVING WATERS -by Last Chapter) -----

and after hearing how true to DOOM the backing band is ---I must delve deeper into the Candllemass catalogue -----

please notice his voice ---and the double bass drums - ---play it LOUD (if you dare)

In my left pocket, spot of all that dies,
a cage of the vile.
13 keys, 13 locks, to the sick and the strange
it calls out to me.

I crept through the palace archways
Psychotic and deranged oh lord
Enchanted and estranged inside
It's midnight for days and days and days

I took demonia, in a week or two
so vicious and cruel.
Evil empire, so perverted
Expanding, outstanding thrill

I crept through the palace archways
Psychotic and deranged oh lord
Enchanted and estranged inside
It's midnight for days and days and days
Are the lords of repulsion true oh true?
Did you find the demons, did they find you?
It's not from eden it's not from hell
The evil that's demonia 6

I rise, and then I fall
And i walk, and I crawl
And i am sore and i am whole

Really wonderful, really beautiful,
the cloak of the vile
My euphoria, got no phobia,
I was chained as a child

I crept through the palace archways
Psychotic and deranged oh lord
Enchanted and estranged inside
It's midnight for days and days and days
Are the lords of repulsion true oh true?
Did you find the demons, did they find you?
It's not from eden it's not from hell
The evil that's demonia 6

Permanent mark = the illusion of immortality. Here's a thought: what if you managed to make an indelible mark on the universe, and then were appalled by the mark you made. If you could live forever, you'd probably change your mind on every issue an unbounded number of times. Best then not to do anything too permanent.
