This is totally true. If you 'get it,' once the media glare is on you and you're in the public consciousness all you have to do is keep up the image and cater to the media, you essentially become you're own brand that you're selling. Like a real life soap opera. Then when something newsworthy/scandalous happens you sell the story rights to it. There are generally firms/people you can hire to keep stories about you in the papers/tabloids or out of the tabloids depending on how much you wanna pay. Anyone ever heard of Max Clifford? I know he probably has some kind of equivalent in the US. Generally I don't care for the whole lot of them; the people that are milking the media for the $$$, the people who don't have a life that actually spend their time watching these talentless hacks, and the industry that perpetuates itself via these kinds of people.

I am definitely missing something here. She is not enviably thin, she is unhealthily thin. I think my problem with people being her "fans" is that she has no discernable talent to be a fan of and I don't find being a gravy train rider an enviable talent.
