I love sing along with this song ---I sang it into a chick's answering machine once ---over the phone -----she said it made her cry ---

This question is totally not possible.
Aside from the entirety of Tool's Lateralus, 10,000 days, and nearly every Chopin song, there would have to be like 1000 other songs. It would be a 70 disc compilation. :)
Oh... and it would end with "Death, Come Near Me" by Draconian.
It MUST.

I was thinking about this earlier this week! Here are (some of) mine, although most of these songs some of you have never heard before...and this list will change as life goes on.
Whenever I hear these songs, I automatically think back to some incident in my life.

Liszt is okay, but I find alot of his stuff too epic and over the top like Mozart.
As far as orchestral composers go, I'm really into Stravinsky and Schoenburg. The more bizarre and disjointed, the better. :)
I <3 me some Webern as well.
Oh yeah. And Scriabin. He's nuts.
More people need to listen to classical music.

If you wanna see over the top you should check out Lang Lang's interpretation of Liszt's Liebestraum on youtube. Talk about feeling the music haha
More people totally need to listen to classical. Or learn an instrument!

I watched it, but for some reason he didn't seem very sincere to me. It was like a parody. :?
Nothing really wrong with his playing though.

You're right about that. The comments on his videos are usually pretty colorful too. But his playing is nice as long as you can't see him.

Now, what would have been the early soundtracks to everyones lives? Like early grade school. Kiss was dominant for most of my generation at that time. We were listening to Kiss and trading Star Wars cards. Heh. I don't think I could listen to an entire Kiss album/cd anymore, but it seemed pretty cool at the time.

As a kid? It's funny but I've got to go with Dick Dale again and his cover of "Miserlou". I thought it was the coolest thing I'd ever heard back in '63 and it's still in my top 10.
After that it would have been "Shout Bamalama" by Otis Reading and the Pinetoppers and the intro to "Where Did Our Love Go" by the Supremes.
Anything by Otis,Wilson Pickett and Sam Cooke was cool then. Sam Cooke,IMO,is the smoothest human being that ever lived. You can't get any cooler than Sam Cooke,it ain't possible.

Otis Reading and the Pinetoppers?! I mean, come on, that's somewhat amusing. Strange name for a band.
You never heard of Otis Redding?Go play with the kids, grown folks are talkin'.

Of course I've heard of Otis Redding. "Sitting on the Dock Of The Bay", only song I've ever heard. I had no idea his band was called the "Pinetoppers", and I continue to find that name amusing.
I'm a former metal head. What do I know about fancy music?
:P
He was with with the Pinetoppers early in his career. Most of the stuff you hear on the radio is the Stax stuff, where he's was backed by Booker T. & The MG's.

Ah, I see. I'm really not very well versed in music, despite being employed as a nightclub tech. I'm always interested in learning, though.
Gotta run and have breakfast now, then go see a collapsed interstate bridge, and then catch a movie and some beers.
Later.
