Oh, and ignorance/closed-mindedness about drugs. I've always been an advocate of recreational drug use for consciousness expansion (for those who are psychologically healthy, and under the right circumstances of course). I think obviously many entities will naturally be opposed to psychoactive drug use. However, it irks me immensely when I [constantly] see so-called liberal-minded people take a completely ignorant approach to an individual's choice to do with his/her body what they choose to do. This forum is actually a good example........maybe a week ago, someone asked how to go about passing a drug test........and they had to endure several pages of people repeatedly yelling D.A.R.E. slogans at him. It was pathetic. You'd think on a website for transsexuals (considered alternative by any mainstream consensus), people would be more accepting of individual choice.

First and foremost, I care about the people who are close to me. If you can call them "issues", then I'd say my loved ones are the ones that concern me most.

As far as the bigger picture is concerned, I care about the environment, about freedom, justice and equality, tolerance, peace and about human lives. More recently, I have become increasingly aware of the struggle for tolerance and fair treatment by the TG community and this is a topic that has begun to concern me.

Throughout my adult life I have spoken publicly, written and campaigned for environmental protection and human rights. I try, in my own small way, to make a difference.

I also care about beautiful girls.

1. Can one be passionate about dispassion? As a Buddhist, meditation and philosophical inquiry have always been vital to me. Letting go of illusion to experience inner depth and clarity, but fully engaging in life at other times.

I like the way it's put in the Dao De Jing:

Empty of desire, perceive mystery.
Full of desire, perceive all manifest things.

To me, both states are to be embraced.

2. I am passionate about compassion: I care deeply about and strive to do as much as I can for others, my fellow people, my fellow creatures, and the earth itself.

3. I am passionate about environmental and social causes: no latecomer, I've embraced environmental issues since 1970. Civil liberties (in recent years thanks to a growing number of TG friends, transgender rights in particular), freedom, tolerance, peace, respect for other traditions.

4. I am passionate about friends and family.

5. I am passionate about Creative Writing: as a writer (two unpublished novels, some published poetry and fiction and non-fiction), I love to read and to write.

6. I am passionate about photography: for 30 years nature and travel photography have been great interests of mine, and more recently, nude photography.

7. I am passionate about the outdoors: hiking, biking, kayaking, cross-country skiing are my favorite outdoor activities.

8. I am passionate about sex. (Reference line two of my Dao De Jing quote above, not merely to perceive but to fully engage.)

Justice. And injustice in all areas of life. This includes issues like human rights, education, government, poverty, and on and on and on.

Unfortunately, I tend to care to a fault.

That's a nice quote Ecstatic.

I was thinking more of "issues" rather than "subjects" (like creative writing and literature). But if you looked at the subjects and disciplines that interest me most, it would have to be science, music and literature. I studied a science at university, I love literature and enjoy writing and I certainly could not live without music. And I love football (soccer for you yanks).

Another topic of discussion I can talk about for hours is food. I enjoy cooking immensely (eating the stuff is good too). And, as you can see from my current avatar, I am passionate about cocktails.

Still, those interests are just things I really like. I doubt I'd go around making speeches about people's rights for a good margarita. And if I did, I'd probably already have had a few so it wouldn't be much of a speech anyway.

It's an interesting topic for discussion though and I think many of us feel the same. Maybe, just maybe we can change the world a little.

Peace and love (and margaritas)

LG

I care about TG issues mainly. Also poverty (economics), corruption (The rich gets richer while the poor gets even poorer. The latter being expoited due to their circumstances for the benefit of those who have the money)..People who use others for their own selfish gains!

Nice art work chloe.

I am passionate about railroads, I love trains. I am trainsgendered. When you tell people you like trains they think you are simple. An ex of mine called me simpies as a pet name because of my keen interest in railroads, railroad photography, and model railroads.

I don't understand people who don't have a passion or an interest, shopping does not count, but just something they like to learn about, or an activity. I have included a train picture for your enjoyment.

I really like your work. The aura painting especially is incredible in my opinion. Is there somewhere I can view it online? If not, can you PM me and I will give you my email to send me scans if you have any.

Could you roll up the paper or canvas and send it by airmail to Europe, if necessary? As for the nude bust, I'd love to see it, but shipping might be a problem

Trainsgendered, that's cute.

Yeah you're right, you gotta have a passion, a joie de vivre
for something. And as cool as retail therapy can be, we
should have other things that excite us as well.

My problem is I have too many interests, the entire world
fascinates me.

I realized I was a Buddhist in college many years ago, though I've never joined any particular sect or temple. I identify very strongly with the Buddha's original teachings (well, as close as one can get), which would essentially make me Theravadan. However, I'm not a vegetarian.

I love your artwork! Those are beautiful pieces, great composition, color, technique, but mostly vividly imaginative.

I never quite got the actual hobby of trainspotting, but I grew up about 50 yards from the railroad tracks? Seeing all the different boxcars and engines from different lines was pretty cool though. (So was hopping trains but we won't go into that.)

A tradition at local bachelor parties was to get the future groom drunk and wait for him to pass out. They'd take him to the train yard, strip him to his underwear and throw him in a boxcar. Most of the time the guy woke up still in the yard, but a few of 'em had some interesting trips.

BTW,I can tell you what section of the train is passing, how much is left, and how long it is by the sound of the train clacking on the tracks. Of course,so anyone who grew up near the tracks. It's like music.

My passions? Bacon and college football.
