I'm not surprised the sci fi channel has a habit of canceling good shows farscape, lexx and tripping the rift.

Sci-fi just doesn't have the budget to keep shows running. Shows die on that station. Maybe if they didn't purchase so many B movies, good shows could survive on the network.

Those b movies couldn't be that expensive i mean come on placid lake 2 couldn't be that much but i think you might be right they keep making crappy tv shows like ghost hunters and the dreasan files.

The cost of making Battlestar Galactica is, I'd imagine, significant. That said, I have to agree that Sci-Fi needs to stop making so many "Sci-Fi Originals", to increase the dough they can put towards shows like Battlestar Galactica. Or, just like "Heroes" replays on Sci-Fi on Fridays, the channel needs to work out something with a prime time channel where some of the cost of shows can be paid by the more well-heeled channel. Fox could show Battlestar Galactica on Sunday afternoons, for example...

To be realistic though, the channel is owned by a large company, and the heads of the channel tend to make bad decisions. Battlestar doesn't have to be cut. Farscape didn't need to be cut. Stargate is finally getting cut. I was just getting into Stargate, although I was spoiled by the original movie effects. It's all about making a profit. The upper management doesn't care about fans.
