Maybe it's like "The Picture Of Dorian Grey", the tattoo keeps ageing while the girl stays forever young. Of course, since it's in "loving memory" a person would have to assume, youthful or not, the woman would be desperately trying to claw her way out of a pre-mature burial right now. . .

Like the commercial says:

"Roger, you tiger now, tattoos are permanent :!: "
