the Online Computer Library Center ( http://www.oclc.org ) is nonprofit information and resource/research center for more than 57,000 libraries in 112 countries. the just put up their "Top 1000" titles owned by OCLC member libraries ( http://www.oclc.org/research/top1000/complete.htm ), and and surprise!!! It's actually a pretty interesting list to peruse - Orc fans will be pleased to note that the Lord of the Rings sits at number 8, while Harry Potter first pops up at #220. Stephen King doesn't make the list at all, while John Grisham shows up 13 times.
Sheet Music shows up as well - Handel's Messiah is #45 on the list, while Bizet's Carmen comes in at #66.
Comic books? You Bet!! Garfield kicks Snoopy's ass by sitting at #16 while Peanuts is down at #69. A heartbreaker for me is seeing Clavin and Hobbes WAAAAY down there at #77.
So, this thread will probably die in the blink of an eye - but check it out - see what you've read, what you haven't and what you wouldn't read if a gun was held to your head!
