Is it a celebrity? Sportsman/woman? Businessman/woman? Politician? Artist? Musician.... etc.. And why are they your hero's? Do you wish you could be like them? are they an inspiration to you... etc.

wOW, SO MANY.

My Mom for showing me what it means to do what is right.

My dad for showing me without saying a word how to treat a lady.

My brothers and sisters for so many different reasons.

Every innocent person in prison for making it through the day.

Women who give birth and bring new lives into the world

Really really good teachers.

Our soldiers and all soldiers fighting the good fight with good intentions.

All who perished in 9/11. All who worked hard to save lives on 9/11

And right now Miriam, as she fights to regain her physical and mental health from a senseless, sick, brutal tragedy.

There are so many, but these are some. Great thread, thanks for the reflection.

Pat Tillman,a man who walked away from a multi year multi million dollar contract in the NFL to go fight on the front line in Afghanistan, only to be killed by friendly fire.An amazing man w/ a tremendous amount of balls and courage.

Interesting how some people are including fictional characters like Rocky Balboa. Anyway, my heroes, off the top of my head and in more or less random order, include:

My mom and dad
Nelson Mandela
Ghandi
Jesse Owens
Steve Prefontaine
John Stuart Mill
Charles Darwin
Steve Biko
Chico Mendes
Chief Joseph
Veronica Guerin
The unknown rebel of Tiananmen
The firemen and rescue workers who die in order to save lives
Art Buchwald
Elijah Lovejoy
Martin Luther King
Bobby Kennedy
Anyone who struggles to make a difference
