View Full Version : A Mysterious Glitch

I've noticed that some days I can't access the forum. I figured most times that the site was just down for awhile, but once I did get to access it again, I've noticed other people had been posting.
I don't understand why this is, and I suppose it could be a problem on my end. Has anyone else experienced this?
For lack of a better explanation, I will blame Ossumpie.

When I first started visiting HA (And other forums) via the AOL client I kept having all sorts of grief. Accessing the same sites from a bare-bones browser (In my case MSIE) and the problems went away. I've also recently discovered that AOL, if left to its own devices (Always on via cable/DSL) will eventually hog up the entire memory block (Most likely via page refresh commands).
Reboot to clear the memory clogs and then try accessing the forums via another browser and see if that shows any appreciable difference.

Of course I'm not using AOL (Does anyone use AOL anymore? It was lame even back when it was kinda cool. . . which it never really was).
I am convinced the glitch is the treacherous hacking of my system by Ossumpie. He's probably being assissted by Peaches and Absolute Shade.
Actually I forget, did we all hate Absolute Shade or Spookable Tranny? It's been awhile. Anyhow, the glitch is rare so I'm not too concerned about it.

OUCH. That was a good one.
It also reminded me of an incident many years ago (I'll give the short version).
I was at a Renaissance Festival one summer (That's what long haired stoner guys did as teens, good place to pick up girls) and a friend of ours hired a guy known as Shamus The Insulter to belittle and humiliate our buddy Kholer. The insulter guy goes up and just lays into him, just starts throwing out hillarious jabs one after the other.
When it was all over we were laughing our asses off. Poor Kholer (who was the master of mutilating the english language) just turned and looked at us blankly, and then said:
"That guy just sarcasted me redundently".
I stand sarcasted. Good work.

Many, many war ago (I think it was 1986), a couple of Joisey girls drafted me into taking them and their entire camp to the war in Pennsyvania. To the uninitiated: Every year, several thousand people gather at a campground near Pittsburgh and spend a couple of weeks whacking each other over the head with sticks in the name of 'recreation'. The event has grown such in size that the campground has regularly added to its real estate holdings just to squeeze this event in. By Pennsylvania law, the population tips it into a town government with elected officials for a period of two to three weeks each year.
Many tales come from the war including, but not limited to, plague (The water really is green and fuzzy), pestulance (Mosquitoes became the official state bird on more than one year), fire (People have set themselves alight while fumbling with the camp fires), and flood.
The year I attended was a flood year. In the middle of the week a hurricane force storm hit the area and flooded many of the camp sites. When one considers that my idea of 'roughing it' is black and white teevee, you can imagine how I felt when I watched a dozen or so pup tents bouncing down the road like tumbleweeds. I had been enlisted to help keep a merchant tent from blowing away ('Tent' being a generous term, as it was little more than a series of tarps and dining flys roped together). It wasn't until the eye of the storm passed overhead and I turned and saw a smoking tree behind me that I realized I'd been holding a metal tent pole in the middle of a lightning storm. I gently put it down and ran away before the next big sqwawl hit.
Some pix of a recent flood year, 2004:

Heh. A flooded field full of metal tent poles and people in metal armor. Not good, I'm surprised people aren't getting blasted by lightning round the clock.
Actually the worst thing that ever happened to me at The Festival was once being put in the stocks and having the crowd berate me and accuse me off being a nitwit and a nosepicker. A little girl even claimed to have witnessed said nose picking, but she was obviously planted in the crowd by the crooked sheriff.
Ahhh damn, being a dork was a pretty good time.

not on AOL but i sometimes have the same problem....could it be that the site is just too busy?
Wow. I just had the same problem.
I think I know culprit. And I get to call my old friend Cricket.
You guys aren't imagining things.
There's something fucked up with this web sites url.
This is what happens when I try to access the website and I'm NOT on AOL:
If I type into my browsers address bar "hungangles.com" it redirects me to a search engine basically telling me the site doesn't exist and to try again.
If I type into the address bar "http://hungangels.com" it gives me "page cannot be displayed". But if I refresh that page the web site shows up.
The only way I can sometimes get onto this site on the first try is if I type into my browsers address bar "http://www.hungangles.com", even then sometimes it pops up and sometimes it just gives me a "page cannot be displayed", if I refresh the screen it will then show up.
There have been days where no matter what combination of URL addresses I try it still won't come up, but if I use a search engine and click on the url it will grant me access to the site.
The webmaster should have fixed this a long time ago, l but it's still fucked up.
