I`m still searching news sites looking for Republican complaints about Diebold and other conspiracy theories that the dems rigged the elections.

The base remained at home. The RINO`s were sent a message,that includes the President and his social programs.The RINOS and their earmarks just got an earfull.

The base must purge all RINO`s and return the Republican party to it`s Conservative roots.

I feel two ways about higher taxes: 1, if it's necessary to avoid much more serious trouble down the road, then I'll do it. 2, considering the basic structure of wealth distribution, I don't understand why we simply don't have the very rich and corporations paying more. I'd bet just closing some corporate loopholes, ending some ridiculous subsidies such as those that big mining, ranching and farming get, would be significant. I also thought Seanchai's argument about the costs of subsidizing health care for the poor carried a lot of water. Can we agree that it's just stupid of us to end up paying for emergency health care instead of the much cheaper preventative maintenance? Anyone who owns a pet knows this.
And I just don't see how even a Republican can support GWB. He's obviously not a bright man. He can barely speak intelligently. I'd feel better about David Letterman for president, based purely on his demonstrated capacity for articulating an intelligent idea. Isn't it clear that GWB got where he did through nepotism? I'm not an economist so I'll tell you what I think. I think growing the economy is as important as balancing the budget. Here's my analogy. When I was 22 years old I was living on my own. I have 800 in rent and about 1400 in net income. I had enough to afford just my rent, bills and food and some basic entertainment. I had a BALANCED budget. Though my credit was good there was no way I could afford to buy anything. As time went by I started to earn a little more here and a little more there. The first thing I needed to buy was a more reliable car.

I could not buy the car and still balance the budget. I just didn't have that kind of savings. So I bought on credit and financed it. That was the last time I balanced my budget. I spent more than I earned but still borrowed on a sustainable payment plan. Imagine that example except it's the US government and instead of a Honda Civic, it's millions of bullets, surveillence equipment, tanks, food stamps, toilet paper, roads and highways etc. I voted twice for Bill Clinton in my naive youth. He balanced the budget but he also cut some very important military spending and as a result, we were left with a shoddily equipped military.

One of America's strengths is it's military. We are having a harder and harder time expanding American military influence because of these military cuts. This is not GROWING THE PIE. Instead, it is "Lets drive older cars and give up the cable TV so we can balance the budget". It's just not the American way. The military, American Universities, our highway system... these things were accomplished on good old fashion American BONDS.... borrowing! The things we all take for granted, the American way, are possible because of American geopolitical dominance. If we budget ourselves to live neatly within our borders, we will soon find ourselves encroached upon by other nations seeking the same luxuries.

I don't care about percieved intelligence. W is smart enough to be president. Bill Buckley once said "I would rather be governed by the first 2000 names in the Boston phone book than by the 2000 members of the faculty of Harvard University". I believe that guys like John Kerry are academically intelligent, but I don't think he's a good person because he's a liar.

Not having security clearances means that us regular people will never have access to all the information. Even the shit we read on some obscure, reliable website will never give us all the information. At some point we have to rely on the man who is trustworthy and then give him the power to make decisions and kick some ass when necessary.

You know, my parents are staunch republicans. They think that liberals feel like every poor person should get a lot for nothing. I don't know if I'm a liberal or not, I don't really like labels and honestly I don't follow it that much, I just pipe in from time to time to try to learn something. But I feel like just because some people start from nothing and make something of themselves doesn't mean we should abandon people who weren't lucky enough to have a friend or teacher or relative to encourage them when it counted. I may be full of shit, but I feel like a lot of people get beaten down by life pretty early for some reason or another, and it's my instinct that it's wrong to just give them the finger, you know? I liked hearing about that guy who recently won a Nobel prize for starting a small-business-loan bank in third world countries many years ago.

I come from a dirt poor family but I was always taught that no amount of money can make anyone a better person. I'm not talking about kissing asses and the like. I'm talking about true, unadulterated desire to make a better life for yourself. If I'd had grown up listening to the veteranos I grew up with, I'd be like them. Those guys are still working in machine shops and drinking beer on the weekends.
