You really do have a one-track mind. FYI, the closure and indictment of Backpage occurred in 2018 - ie during the first Trump Administration.

This is not an issue of Democrats or Republicans. The demonization of Backpage and similar websites was a bipartisan effort because getting headlines with sensational stories about fighting c**** s** t********** is always an easy win for politicians.
The end result was two federal laws, the Allow States and Victims to Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act (FOSTA) and the Stop Enabling Sex Traffickers Act (SESTA). They passed almost unanimously and allow website owners to be criminally prosecuted for the content of posts made by third parties (i.e., users).
Those laws drove s** w*** back into the streets (which is much more dangerous for providers and consumers) and onto dating app. From a law enforcement perspective, finding/rescuing victims and catching/prosecuting perpetrators has actually become more difficult, because one-off street busts do not roll up networks.
