On an earlier thread here Steven Grooby answered a question about new entrants
getting into the Market

https://www.hungangels.com/vboard/showthread.php?106096-AMA-Steven-Grooby-(Ask-Me-Anything)/page39

He advised :
" It's almost impossible for a one-person show to open a paysite now. The barrier to entry is just too high unless they've a proven money maker. I'd advise them to start with OnlyFans and clip sites like ManyVids and see if their content sells there. Ignore the feedback on free social media and tube sites (tho it's good on premium tube options) because people getting content for free aren't worth listening to. And then the advice is the same as it's ever been. Don't try to compete on what people are already doing - what's unique to you as a model or as a producer, whether it be your location and availability of models, your own fetishes, etc. Secondly, only do what you love - someone trying to promote and shoot content that they're not into, will almost always fail."

~

I have always been a slutty tgirl who gets off on the thought of other people watching me. Up until around 2022 I was posting my videos to the clip sites, some of the videos were quite popular, I had one get 2 million views. Then the tube started requiring ID's and Co-performer ID's with model releases. That killed my fun hobby of getting off on people watching me be a slut.

Well, I finally have some time and so I decided to give a try to doing this on more professional basis.

I was worried about giving out my real ID and information to a some shadowy porn company. I still am worried about that. The precaution I took was locking down my credit report at all 3 credit reporting agencies and with Check Systems, no new accounts can be opened in name. (Hopefully!)

The first step is setting up accounts and getting verified. I have some tips for new entrants as I have just been through the process.

Onlyfans - Getting verified there was a real bitch. They are unclear about what they need and they just keep rejecting applications,
it is very frustrating. So here is what I learned:
On the Release Form , DO NOT SIGN IT (The form says sign, but they want you to print your name.), Also make sure you
put the date on the form. (That cost me 2 rejections!)
On the picture of you holding up the ID, Make sure all 4 Corners of the ID are Visible. Also take a VERY high resolution
picture, High enough res that you read the small print on the ID.

More to cum

I also got in ManyVids. Surprise Suprise I opened my email this morning and I had made my first sale.

I only have 1 for sale video there. In the video, I play a Crossdressing, Cucked husband who must suck and
get fucked by his wife's Bull lover.

A buddy of mine is a Project Manager at OnlyFans Corporate and one of his projects was/is making the verification process easier, I do not know when you signed up, but he said that they have shifted some of the verification process to a 3rd party company that makes the process easier and more secure.

He also indicated that compliance does make it more cumbersome than it might have been in the early days or if they were in a different segment of the market, but that they are trying their best to make the process as easy as possible because the more performers, the more revenue for OnlyFans.

I cannot speak to any of that as I do not personally use the service, but that is what he tells me when we have hung out.

Onlyfans is a shitshow for creators. They have no customer service, their rules for co-performers are unclear and arbitrary, they ban performers for arbitrary things. They were the shit during the pandemic but the site has grown into a nightmare for creators.

The content restrictions are also horrid.

IMO the reason they do so well is because they have a huge base of people who have previously subscribed (given their CC numbers). It is much easier to get someone to subscribe if they have used the platform before. This trust aspect cannot be overrated.

I have run ecom sites before, the first thing I would always do to add conversions was add to Amazon Pay, Apple Pay and Paypal as choices while checking out. That alone can increase sales by 50% on a site that just had CC checkout as an option before.

Of the fan sites I have registered at so far, JustFor - Fans has the best customer service, highest payouts and widest content allowed.

The real key here is whether a model can bring her own traffic. If you can, then JustFor - Fans or one of the other alternatives can work.

IMO, the key to getting that traffic is to have some clips trailers on the big tube sites.

Also The Only Fans search function sucks. You have to use a second site like ModelSearcher to find the creators who do your fetish.

That's where Clips4sale and ManyVids have the fan sites beat. It is much easier to find the content you want on those sites.

I think my above post was unfairly deleted,

I mentioned the tube sites as part of the broader conversation that Steven brought up himself - his words

"Ignore the feedback on free social media and tube sites (tho it's good on premium tube options) because people getting content for free aren't worth listening to"

I did not link to any tube site nor encourage anyone to visit a tube site.

I only provided info on their per mil adshare rates. That is quite valuable and helpful information for anyone hoping to get into the biz.

I get banning tube site links, but if you are going arbitrarily delete posts that even mention tube sites, you should do it in a consistent manner.

On the subject of Video editing. I bought a sub to Premiere pro and tried it. Very nice but just like with Photoshop the learning curve is a bitch. I moved to capcut because it was easier for newbs and more intuitive.

If you are looking partners to shoot content with, NEVER pay up to run an employer ad on SexyJobs. You will be inundated
with delusionals who don't even read your ad, flood your inbox and end up wasting a mass amount of your time.

HEY, guy from Maine, NO, I cannot pay to fly you out to Las Vegas to shoot you with your 6 and1/2 cock.

And, You NEWBIE, no one is going to pay $1500 for your first ever scene topping a Tgirl.

Just going to present this email I got.

1480154

They sold my vid for $4.99 and took 2.99 as commission

That's 60% of the sale of the sale price for a video.

What a fucking rip-off.

I think that’s your commission not theirs. The stated split in the T’s and C’s is 60% to you and 40% to them

Every site is pretty much like this. Sucks, but it is the nature of the beast. They provide the infrastructure. You upload the video and have to sell it. Or pay to promote it on the site.

I was COMPLETELY wrong on this.

@RodinUK you were right, the commission was what they paid to me NOT what they took.

When I signed up I saw the payout was 60/40 and I agreed to that.

I apologize to C4S and everyone who may have thought they screwed me on that.

I was wrong. I am sorry for that.

It is almost like the super secret server. Nobody knows about it unless you advertise and nobody is advertising it. Oops.

Don't worry about it. Just a learning experience while surfing the content creator pipeline.

This whole experience so far has been pretty humbling. I realize that I don't know FUCKALL
about this business.

So I am taking a few steps to get better:

1 - Reached out to Jenna Jaden (Third Sex XXX) for a consult, we are twitter friends.
-Should really help, she is looking over my stuff all to advise on strategy and details

2- I hired a pro videographer to shoot my next few scenes and teach me more about editing
- Lighting, audio and scene setup are all vital to know.

3- I joined the adult webmaster forum GFY and I am slowing reading through the threads.

4- I will start renting out my small studio space so I can see the ins and outs of how others
set up scenes.

So this should take quite awhile to gain some real knowledge.

Forget GFY - it's a bunch of mostly worthless people and you'll get very little knowledge there, instead go to : https://www.xbiz.net/ which is far more business orientated and friendlier. [see PM for more on this].

Good lighting and clear shooting is key - but look into AI editing which may save you time - or don't overthink it. There is a market for amateur content and doing too much polishing detracts from that, but it still needs to be well lit and clear.

You should have accounts on ManyVids and Clips4sale, as well as OnlyFans, Twitter, BlueSky, and any other platforms. Keep the brand name the same across them all.

Don't expect too much, at least not at first. There is no magic bullet. Don't pay consultants or managers. It's a grind. After almost 30 years, we have to grind daily to get each sale. You won't be able to make a living out of this (this goes for almost every model) so see it as a side-gig and also enjoy it.

Good tips.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to this.

I appreciate it.

Just an Update

I had the consult with Jenna Jaden. Learned a lot. The Key Takeaways:

- THE paperwork is CRITICAL (especially the 2257 - get 2 forms of ID)
If you ever want to sell a scene you made , you have to have all the paperwork right

- Testing is also crucial, never take an out of date test or take someone's word.

- Content thieves are evil, she told me about spending $4k on a scene and then seeing it for
free on some Russian site. Very disheartening.

- Consider doing post scene interviews to verify everything was agreed to and within agreed limits

- Collabs and Trade are the way forward now

Those are just a few of the things from the consult. It was a great learning experience.

Came across this Google doc, it's quite helpful. Lists
the site content restrictions on most adult platforms.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1vuwKN-yuOJDlLiOa8CyCVA8BMpXg7knCZxS8YgFE98Y/edit?gid=0#gid=0

Onlyfans is by far the most restrictive.
