I always thought GroobySteven was just a pseudonym, but it seems to be his real name.

Sorry missed this - I was away.

It's not my real name.

1996 - I was trying to make some free porn sites from newsgroup content in BBW, Asian, Black and Trans. I needed a domain name but they cost over £100 at the time (they're about £10 now) and I was pretty much unemployed, so could only afford one domain name to cover them all.
Groovy was taken. So I selected Grooby.com

So the sites would have been:

grooby.com/bbw
grooby.con/asian
etc.

I wasn't really away that we were going to have a business at the time of this magnitude and something I'd be working on for the rest of my life.

GroobyGirls came around in the mid-2000s - some of the girls started saying 'how do I become a grooby girl' etc. And Sparky (RIP) who worked for us, started using it and coined it for social media. When we wanted to change from shemaleyum.com to groobygirls.com it was the obvious choice and we spent two years getting the name pushed out everywhere, so when we did change, it wasn't a huge jolt.

I love that the word 'Grooby' gets used in the industry when talking trans, and that our GroobyGirls (any trans girls in porn) get so involved with the merchandise etc.
