I use a water based lube with 2% lidoocaine like Relax Anal Glide. It's important to get as much up inside as possible. I also believe a too tight condom can cause tight concentric ridges/wrinkles and cause friction, so better too big than too small unless she is good about smoothing it out. Going slow is a must, the worst is the pain of opening to abruptly and can ruin mood quickly even after recovering.
