As someone who works in this field, only a year, she'll be fine. She'll take one pill a day with the goal of getting her VL to undetectable. What I've seen first hand is the issue people have emotionally from the news. I hope she has a support system that will help her.

I want to reiterate what someone said above, this is not a death sentence and life will go on. Meds have turn this thing into a chronic illness. You can live a completely healthy life being hiv positive as long as you take your meds.

Remember use a condom and if you can get on prep!
