would you consider working as an escort?

I saw on another thread, members were saying that Tgirls work as escorts because they have trouble getting other jobs. However, when I lived up north and had more Tgirl contacts, I thought the ones working as escorts were happier than those who werent. They appeared to have more confidence and were more social. - I might be wrong but they appeared that way.

Last year, a Thai masseuse told me she was opening her own parlour and she wanted me to work as a ladyboy. I thought she was silly because I am too old now and no one would find me attractive.

However, her comment threw me into an emotional tailspin because I decided not to transition many years ago, but the idea of working as a ladyboy masseuse is something that appealed. Of course, masseuses dont have to provide sex if they dont want to.

Anyway, my question is, if you were a Tgirl, would you work as an escort or masseuse? or not?

That also says little about the health risks and safety concerns.

Escorting, while easy to make money at since there is always someone willing to pay for something...seems to be the most emotionally draining way a girl can make a buck. Even those that seem to rationalize it as if they are taking advantage of some poor sap that "can't get laid so he has to pay for it" still must not enjoy being used like a doorknob.

. . . when I lived up north and had more Tgirl contacts, I thought the ones working as escorts were happier than those who werent. They appeared to have more confidence and were more social. - I might be wrong but they appeared that way . . . .

Did you know them well or were these just social acquaintances? The reason I ask is because I've known several trans women who escorted personally (as opposed to professionally) and they all presented a caricature/manufactured persona to tricks and people they didn't know well. But in reality, none of them really found satisfaction, security, or particularly enjoy being sex workers.

One of them, a girlfriend who I dated for a little over a year, was a full time escort and seemed to take everything in stride. However, even though she did shoots for various websites, a few hardcore DVDs, and actively marketed herself online, escorting never provide a reliable/stable income, and she lived hand to mouth. She also had a number of close calls and I once had to rush downtown to pick her up after something went terribly wrong with a client (she was so shaken by whatever went down that she couldn't even tell me exactly what happened).

The others I've known engaged in what is called survival sex work at various points in their lives, meaning that they'd escorted out of desperation/necessity. From them, I always sensed that escorting and/or being sugar babies was a source of shame, embarrassment, regret, and that if they hadn't been facing eviction/homelessness/starvation they never would have fucked for money.

Lorca your response was great - yes, except for a couple that I got very close to, there was a lot of social not personal interaction. I did feel at times some were putting up a front, one in particular, but I would never have said it.

One reason I would not have liked to have done it is because you have to get intimate with people you would choose not to. I think massage is better in that you can say 'I dont offer that service'.

I have lost touch but it would be interesting to know what they are all doing now. I suspect there would be some sad stories. I wonder if we are given enough life advice.

Cereal Escapist - I think your comment is good too. Some people are actually attracted to the idea of being used, but it is very different when you cant chose the person who uses you. Your phrase 'emotionaly draining' is a good one but I wonder if two clients a day is more emotionaly draining than a normal job. I suspect it is. You would need to be a certain personality type.
I know some people genuinely enjoy giving pleasure to other people and will even tolerate a small amount of pain.
I also wondered what they would do if the client had a big cock because they can cause immense pain and can even rip you open which means you wont be able to take anyone else for a few months until it heals. I suppose you could always give their money back and say 'sorry, I cant take it.'

I would as a side job. Not as a means to provide for myself. It would be for men though.

Better to do massage or something of that nature. If the client is gross you can say you don't do that!

I can't even imagine what some escorts have to put up with, not only in terms of looks but the acts they are asked to perform.

As a guy who required extensive rimjobs from escorts, that has to be just the tip of the iceberg for some of the things girls probably never envisioned having to do to earn a buck.

Now that said, from the buyer's perspective, there are just some things you don't do with your wife or your side piece which is why you hire an escort.

Cereal Escapist. Im beginning to agree with you. I said that some people like to be used. Its true, but we normally choose who uses us. Escorts dont get that option. I still like the idea of working in a massage parlour where you have protection around you and, as Boston Bad said you can limit your activity to massage if neccesary.

Yes, massage is good. Network with the clients that are good and host them in your house now and then.

If you don't like the guy in the massage place, tell him you don't do that.

If I was ts and an escort some guys I'd swallow others not. But you can't promise without seeing.

the money would be good.

but not balanced against stinky clients, and a risk of disease and need for PreP all the time.

its why for the girls, sex work shold be an option and not a necessity.
