Wtf. LVL was shot up a couple of days ago. Someone shot through a blacked out window so they weren't targeting anyone. This shit is ridiculous.

From what i heard from a bartender friend that works there, he was refused entry and shot the place up. Not necessarily a hate crime, just a drunk asshole with a firearm.

Thanks for the info Serial. Still very fucked up but in light of the Pulse shooting I have to consider the community might be targeted.
Gotta get back to Vegas soon. You should come to the awards.
Ben and Cool Awesome I will see you guys next week.

Sounds to me he's just making it clear its not a hate crime, and some loser who was denied service instead.

I wouldn't say it the legal availability of the guns, because if its legal or not people will have what they want. Mental illness is a helluva thing, Reagan administration pushed toward closing state hospitals back in the day unfortunately they failed to continue the care they said they would for the patients of these facilities. So they all became homeless or wards of the states. To this day nothing in terms of really fixing the problem has happened, then we have to deal with the whole generation ME...ME ME ME no one else matters except for ME ME ME....

In 1975, in the O'conner vs Donaldson (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/O%27Connor_v._Donaldson) decision, the Supreme Court ruled that it was unconstitutional for people to be held against their will, even the mentally ill. Every state began to close their state mental hospitals, and the governments were happy to do so since they were so expensive.
I'm no republican nor Reagan defender, but it seems you're very ignorant to blame Reagan, its just a left-wing talking point.

I have no idea why state hospitals closed but O'Connor only means people can't be forcibly confined and it also only relates to those who are "non-dangerous" and "capable of surviving safely in freedom by themselves or with the help of willing and responsible family members or friends." That doesn't necessarily mean there weren't people at institutions voluntarily or who were forced out but could have been confined under O'Connor because they could not "survive safely in freedom by themselves or with the help of others."
Edit: this might also be relevant..https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mental_Health_Systems_Act_of_1980

Actually the administration wanted to implement community care for all, we have seen first hand how well that has worked.... Now I am currently working with the mentally ill at a DSH-Department of State Hospitals here in CA and it is my field of practice so I think i'm quite the opposite of ignorant. Probably the most informed on the subject =]

Edit: this might also be relevant..https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mental_Health_Systems_Act_of_1980 At least in California the criteria is; Danger to self, Danger to others, or gravely disabled- i.e. homeless and cannot fend for self (food.

Kids these days, generational... Come on folks, this is humanity and it hasn't changed one whit since the dawn of recorded history. Those types are always out there. Being generally well-fed and protected doesn't change the nature of the beast, it just cuts down on the everyday conflict.

Anyone actually been to the he lounge recently? I'm heading out to Vegas soon and am tempted to visit in an attempt to hook up with a ts. This has put me off a little though lol.

It’s been cleaned up a bit. Unfortunately I couldn’t make AVN this year and didn’t go when I was last in town back in October, but I’m sure it hasn’t changed too much.

I’ve been there when it was a dump with top-notch girls in attendance. I remember hanging out with Foxxy and the late Celeste.
I’ve been there when it has been spiffed up but is practically empty girls-wise.

I was there during AVNs weekend. I didn't stay long... the vibe wasn't good that night. I stayed for like 20 minutes then i was out...

The police are investigating it as random for now. They've looked into whether it was trans specific but haven't found anyone specifically targeting transwomen as of yet. I know they've been asking a lot of the girls that frequent the place about ex-boyfriends/customers to see if any have any beef with the place, but again, nothing has turned up. So I'm going with random until proven otherwise, serves no purpose to believe otherwise until proven different. But you do you man, we all get to have our own opinions.
And the awards are this weekend? I don't have any plans, maybe I'll take the quick drive out. Haven't seen you guys in years. You still have the same phone number? Mine is the same if you have it.

Not ok, but not uncommon unfortunately.
It is North Vegas though....

It's Las Vegas, not North Las Vegas. Although it is a somewhat sketchy end of town I guess. I've never had any problems over there. I've always just thought of it as lower income than most of the surrounding city.
I think I still have your number as well as Ed's. Text me if you have mine stilll, it's the same.
I'll let you guys know if i decide to come out there. Wouldn't be til Saturday morning unfortunately, I have to work tomorrow. And I'd have to come back home Sunday night again.

I don't go often since most of the girls there are working, but I was there probably 5 months ago and it wasn't bad. I tend to go on weekdays to visit my friend that works there instead of weekends, but there's almost always a couple hotties in there. I'm just not in the habit of directly paying for women so its not my scene. If you don't mind gay bars, Piranha and Quads always have a bunch in them on weekends, and most of the straight clubs will too. Don't think you have to hit that specific spot to meet a girl, I've met far more of them wandering around Fremont East or hitting a club than I have at the Lounge, which is usually the same ones each night.

I've always felt safe at the Lounge. Of course, I've always been armed. I prefer hanging out with the prostitutes outside that have been banned. A little Spanish and a little crystal goes a long ways.

Meth and firearms, a winning combination.
