it's really interesting how this went from 3 guys having a beer to same sex marriage (cringe!!) being something that fucks everything up.

This 'thin end of the wedge' type of argument is pretty standard on the 'vote no' side, who know that they cannot win a straight-up argument on the merits of allowing SSM. Unfortunately, these tactics seem to be effective.
